The 296 does not belie its mass. The Pista feels more lithe and nimble especially in tight and hard cornering. The 296 does feel a tad more rigid.

I hadn't realised that weight is a performance metric....

  3. Well, it certainly isn't a style metric.

Have a 200 lb passenger when tracking your car. Then repeat without the passenger. I have a feeling, the time will be lower.

The only objective and quantifiable performance metric is the stopwatch. Weight (like power), is a technical parameter.

Are you adding a Pista or trading your 765 for one? You’ve been giving it (Pista) high praise in your posts recently.

Ferrari official dry weight for he Ferrari Pista Coupe is 1280Kg compared to the 296GTB at 1470Kg. So difference of 190Kg( 419lbs)

  8. You mean 90 KG (not 190 KG), yes?

You are correct. I just checked the official Ferrari website. 419lbs is significant to everyone but Zeus.

My praise for the Pista is in comparison to the 296 and every Ferrari 8 cylinder. The 765 occupies a position at the pinnacle of all super cars ever manufactured and by a large margin.

No, I meant 190Kg difference between the two cars. 1470 - 1280 = 190. No electronic wizzardy can mask 190Kg of extra heft as it affects everything from braking, acceleration and cornering.
As Colin Chapman said '' Adding power makes you faster on the straights. Subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere''
