Separate 348 and 355 sections?

  1. No, keep it as is.

  2. Yes, it would be great to have separate sections

  3. I can take it as-is or separate

  4. Separate would be great but how would history get resolved?

It's been suggested in a thread, so I thought I'd create a poll.

    Please don't.
Both cars share a lot, like the 3x8 and the Mondial. The forum with the most followers is the most active, solves the most problems. At this very moment there is a Mondial with an engine noise which gets more help on the 3x8 forum then on the Mondial part. Now ok, but later all search functions get lost....

    Agreed: leave it alone.
I was sorry to see the 3x8 & Mondi split.

Agreed. The 348/355 experience is largely the same and together we maintain a stronger information base and the unique brotherhood that is the 90's Ferrari.

No. They are too simlar. The 360 and F430 are one section, so should the 348/355. However, the 456/612/FF do not follow this logic...

Leave it. A majority of information is applicable to both cars. I changed out my 355 CV boots following a video for a 348. The only difference was a hex bolt on the 348 vs a 13mm bolt on the 355. Otherwise identical procedure. There are a lot of simularities like this that warrant the cars being kept together.

    Strength through numbers!

Logic, that's what makes it so difficult. The Mondial t for example, the drivetrain is used in the 348 and its suspension (in concept) is in the 355. For the most part, other than an evolution of the series, the t doesn't share very much with its predecessors.

Looks like it will very well remain as it is, for the record i voted split, but i will go with the flow.
All this started when FB sugested a split on another thread. I dont know why Dave rock paid any attention to the troll.

LOL. I knew the result would be to leave it but if I told that to FBB I would not have been heard.

    Oh i see mate :)
In your poll i was lookingnfor the option of having a 355 section without the snide, aggogant, unhelpful and trolling comments from certain so called consultants.
I know you know what i mean Dave;)

That would be the best option. Dino, your posts are always very helpful - it's obvious you know what you are doing working on these cars so please keep it up!

I would like to leave it as is many threads apply to both and I can't bear the thought of losing the 348 brotherhood who have helped tremendously with their input over the years. Unless they want to separate because their tired of getting sprayed with our hair gel.

This idea gets floated every now and again and it remains a dead subject as much now as in the past. FBB cannot be serious about a serious split. He, being a founding Stooge knows very well how much these cars are alike. You might as well split up the 308 and 328 group.

Whenever we have a Stoogefest, there are typically more 355's than 348's, much to my chagrin. We all work on those cars, 348 people will work on a 355, and vice versa, but there are less 355er's who work on their own cars. Excepting for goth and a few others, most 355 owners are not real hands on, however, we are cultivating them and there is a large core of 355 DIYer's although we don't claim credit for that.

Splitting the group is a knee jerk reaction to the controversy we see in these pages. Whatever. Suck it up. We are stuck with each other. Be helpful and respectful. that's what we are all looking for here, not to brag or boast about which model is better or more collectible or more valuable. Trolls are everywhere and until they create an anti-troll missile we just live with them.

While I have grown tired of and largely ignored the rather frequent 348-355 bickering and backstabbing (just like real siblings LOL), I actually found, in Vince's post above, 2 KEY words that might actually make this rather forced conjugal relationship work... that being

    *helpful* and *respectful*

    of each other. Enough said.

    Cheers
