My silhouette had a photo shoot with EVO magazine today for a feature they are doing on it. I'm not sure which edition it will be in, but it will be one of their ICON car stories. Is this the first article to focus solely on a silhouette in a major car magazine (circulation in UK 40,000 and syndicated in 15 languages) since the 70s? Here are some pictures of the day and a video of them getting the cornering money shot. I think they liked it... https://youtu.be/xkK5j2-jtk4 Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's excellent news. I suggested this idea to evo some time ago, so well done for making it happen. My idea was that they should compare it to the Huracan spyder, so let's wait and see. It does sound as though Henry enjoyed it; I still think these are great cars both from a 70s perspective and even if you apply modern standards. The profile shot in the grass is superb! Any news on the Convoy story recreation? Jonathan
Hi Jonathon, yes it was your suggestion they eventually followed up on. Great idea and thanks. When we originally discussed last year it was planned to do a comparison with a modern, but now they are saying it will be a stand alone Silhouette feature in their Icon series. I must say I prefer this idea. Henry Catchpole genuinely liked it so I think it will get a positive write up. I'm supplying him crib notes, so any ideas for what he might want to include about the silhouette development, history, etc please suggest away (quickly). The Convoy 2 adventured is all finalised. We have the 3 star cars (Silhouette, Urraco and Countach) and at least 5 other Supercars accompanying and a couple more awaiting the deposit. So it will definitely happen end of Sept/early Oct, hotel reservations will be confirmed next week. We at staying I only the best places! We arrive back in UK on Saturday 1st Oct and staying at the Goodwood Hotel. Lord March is hosting a dinner for us that evening and then we will exhibit all the cars at Italian car breakfast club the next morning. Car magazine are going to do two issues on Lamborghini heritage, the issue for Dec (their biggest seller) will be on the Convoy 2 story. Mel has syndicated the story all round the wold, so it will appear on all the major mags: Car and Driver in USA, Wheels in Oz, and the equivalents in Japan, Germany, France, etc. It'll probably be one of the biggest motoring stories of the year... Lambo are fully supporing with a dinner, factory tour, etc, etc. It's going to be bloody brilliant!
I was at the factory during the week. Still no sign of Silhouette 40054 that used to be in the museum...
Lots of lamborghinis at Goodwood supercar Sunday last weekend, but only one V8 Image Unavailable, Please Login
I came across a little information on Alpine stereos and the Silhouette recently which you might find interesting. The documents are from the early 80s and advise Apline dealers how to upgrade various cars, including the Urraco and Silhouette. While the orginal fit Alpine stereo was the CM-630, and maybe the CM-620, in the early 1980s Alpine were suggesting the 7110 and 7111 as suitable upgrades. The document is correct about the in windscreen aerial although the speakers in my Silhouette are in the head restraints. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here are details on the 7110 and 7111 stereos (remember these are upgrades available in the early 1980s, not original fit stereos)... Image Unavailable, Please Login
All Supercars look the same, eh? Even less info or profile-accuracy for the Countach... Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's a Pantera for sure. Deck lid, nose, the side glass, etc. I guess someone said get me an image & print it, and then ran off to lunch.
