Thanks!! Very fun racing those cars... first time racing an open top car or something that fast. Ridiculously fun. First stint was really hard as we started with tire pressures too low which made the car very difficult to drive.. just had to hold on until the first stop and try not to get hit or in the way of the GTLM field. After that it was great.... until I brought the car in after a double stint with about 90 minutes left in the race and was dinged with a pit lane speeding penalty. My first one ever... and I was being extra safe, was on the limiter at least 20ft before the cones.. but whatever, water under the bridge. We were in P3 after that until our power steering failed with about 60 minutes left. My co-driver David Ostella did a hell of a job for that last hour without power steering.

Considering most of the field had 3 drivers, we were both pretty tired by the end. P4 was a good result for us given the penalty, power steering failure, and neither one of us are real "Pros".. but for me it's weird. I've done the race 3 years in a row (2012, 2013 in the ESM Ferrari) and finished 4th in class all three years. :)

Thanks for saying "spoiler alert" i still haven't gotten through all 6 hours yet.

On a serious note, good job congrats on the finish. I hope in the next few years to see you out there, i have some plans in the works and can hopefully be right beside you (or in front of you)

The "Six Hours at the Glen" and the Vintage Races are on my bucket list, maybe next year.

I believe I would enjoy the vintage event a lot more as I may be able to meet some of my racing hero's. I am going to do some research on the event and see if I may be able to attend next year.

    Thanks.

Actually, there were people there than ever before. I have been going there for years and most of the people were out walking around to the different vantage points, which is one of the pluses at a road course such as the Glen. I guess adding all the support races helped fill out the crowd. I missed being able to park in the infield, but did get a ride back to the parking lot at the end of the race by one of the golf cart shuttles. I love the vintage event, which is usually now held the weekend after Labor Day. I enjoyed it a lot more when it was held in October, when the weather is much more Fall-like. Try to go for the vintage event or even the Ferrari Challenge weekend in late September. The weather will be a little cooler and the wineries in full swing. Check out Ithaca and it's incredible farmers market. I had an incredible meal at a restaurant called Stonecat along the east side of Lake Seneca. Patrick Dempsey and Scott Sharp walked in while I was there. The area has a lot to offer and I feel incomplete if I don't get there at least once a year. I was surprised how few of my local Ferrari club members had never been to the Glen and encouraged several of them to try and get there. Check it out!

I would love to get more information about attending the Vintage event but I do not want to detract from the topic. Maybe a thread for newbies will be started because I know what I would prefer but as we know what someone want's is not always available.

Thank you Randy for your generous offer. I will email you in the next few days and just as a friendly fyi I do not expect to be able to attend this years event as I am currently in school full time until May of 2015. I do like to be prepared though.

    Once again thank you,
    Gregg

The Glen is a wonderful track to drive. I have done only DE's there, but my GT3 seems to be set up exactly for this track. We drove the weekend before the Tudor series and was able to lower my lap times significantly - just a matter of trusting the car.

We also ate at Suzannes, on the east side of the lake - one of the best restaurants in the area.

The track is so long, it is difficult to figure out what the best viewing spots are, at least it was for my wife.

I was arriving Sunday for tech as the Porsche club was wrapping up.. I ran my Boss 302 Laguna Seca on monday and tuesday, and we were shared the track with the Phoenix racing team, they were doing a test and tune on their mustangs getting ready for the Continental Challege race. I like to think I'm fast, but having them blow by me by at least 40 mph faster than me, that was intimidating to say the least.

BTW what the hell happened to the silver Mercedes AMG SL ? Ouch !!!!

Either an SL or CL 55, can't recall, but AMG. I was instructing in an M4 coupe and we passed him just before his off.
