So you like cops choking kids and slamming tiny girls to the ground but fighting yourself is out of the question. NICE!

With that kind of thought process I can imagine how your kids will turn out lol!

I got lucky? LOL! No I didn't know for sure. But I did suspect that the video that had been edited by the skateboarders didn't quite tell the entire story. And considering the editers I knew it was quite biased. I read in another report the entire video is over 10 minutes. What's sad is you are willing to lynch this cop based on that video instead of getting all the facts before making a decision.

No I don't like anyone choking any other person.

If I think resorting to physical violence is the only way to protect my family then you can bet your a** I will be fighting. I and most civilized people will do this only as a last resort. I unlike you tend not to over react.

My take: whatever the kid(s) did initially was irrelevant- when the one kid ran, and the other kids started screaming at the cop, moving toward the cop-- and the one kid was screaming 'He was just riding a ****ing skateboard'-- the kids were interfering with the officer, and presented a threat to him. He may seem to have overreacted, but back in the day, it wasn't all that suprising for 13 y/o kids to being carrying handguns. So, the kids crossed the line when they didn't stand back, shut up and behave. They aggravated a situation that was probably unnecessary to begin with, but based on what I saw, the kids were out of line. I don't care how old they were. (And as to females being the fairer sex, tell that to the survivors of the cops who got slaughtered at the Brinks heist near where I live- the foil was a young hippie chick, whose dad happened to be a famous lawyer. When she distracted the officers, her buddies blew them away.)
Want the law to protect you? Respect it, and those who enforce it, even if they appear to be wrong-
Take another example_ you see a cop with a gun drawn on somebody- you don't know that the suspect just robbed a bank, raped a girl, or murdered somebody. And, you walk up to the cop and start to talk to him about how he should put the gun down, interfering with the arrest because you are a peace-lover. Are you in the right?

    So you did get lucky.

Still if you're in the right by supporting the cop, why is he on administrative leave?

Because he and you are in the wrong.

Standard procedure. Dosen't mean he will be fired. But they have to investigate the incident. The more that is coming to light here the more I think the cop will be cleared.

If I got lucky as you said then you will be the one that is wrong sir.

Before we string up the cop on this story, I think it would be good to know more about what led up to it. "Skateboarding Day" wasn't some city event, it's a national skateboarding enthusiasts celebration. The area they were riding in looked to be the business/social district. Not only is it a nuisance to ride in areas like this, but it's dangerous as well. The kids also had a hidden camera. Why? We have no way of knowing if this was an ongoing issue between this group of kids and these cops, or quite possibly with the local business owners. The cop clearly said more than once that they were in violation of city ordinances. I'll bet my bottom dollar that this is an ongoing battle between local skateboarders and the business district trying to protect its sidewalks. What he did looked heavy-handed to a 13 year-old skateboarder. But watching paramedics treat the elderly or children injured by one of them can be pretty severe as well. I have skateboarders who work for me, and they are responsible about where they go boarding. My feeling is, while these are probably good kids in general, they were still enjoying the thrill of boarding where they knew they weren't supposed to be. You would have seen their videotape on YouTube no matter what. Their hope was to get shots of tricks and stunts mixed in with angry shop owners, pedestrians and cops chasing after after them, angry adult fists waving futilely in the air as the veins in their necks pulsed out, with the obligitory music dubbed over it. It just turned out that this time they got pinched.

You got lucky as in some facts came out that support your argument. The face the he was taken off the job means he did something wrong.

    You state "
And that's total Bull****! So after every shift a cop routinely gets put off work? lol!

You're still grasping at straws. Cop beats up kids, cop get taken off the job, cop loses pay, cop loses any respect he might have had which was probably very little, cop collects shopping carts to pay the bills.

Yep, sounds like he's in the right!

Even his supervisors didn't support him....

The news report posted here said the cop was on 'paid leave' during the internal investigation. I wouldn't be so sure that they have hung him out to dry. He may get reprimanded for excessive force and not seeking backup, but he hasn't been fired (yet).

Stand procedure as in when there is a complaint against the officer. The situation warrents an investigation and putting him on paid leave is not unusual. You sir are the one grasping at straws. As more comes to light it seems more like these kids are the guilty party. People are wanting to for a lynch mob based on a biased edited video. You seem to want to jump in and possibly hang the wrong man.

As far as getting combative with you on here I am going to curb the name calling. If you want to discuss in a civil manner fine. If not we got nothing else to discuss. Read the other two who have chimed in recently.

Bull**** isn't name calling it's a type of statement as in, not valid.

And again. Cops have complaints filed against them all the time. If every cop was taken off the street because of complaints, there wouldn't be a cop on the street anywhere. He was taken off the street because he was in the wrong my slamming children around.

What would happen if a parent did that to their child?

"She wouldn't clean her room, then tried to leave the house past her curfew, I had to restrain he by choking her."

Yeah that sounds just as bad.

Like I said before, if it was my kid, that cop would be in hiding shaking himself to pieces.

I didn't say you were name calling. I said "I" was going to curb it. I can't expect you to act civil if I am not. I do think we can have a discussion on this without being at each others throats. (no pun intended)

Yes that is true but every time a complaint this severe and this public is filed it would warrent putting him on paid leave till ALL the facts are investigated. I have no problem with putting him on leave pending investigation.

I give you this. The guy probably used excessive force. And I doubt he will get off with no disciplinary action. But you are making these kids out to be martyrs when in fact they are nothing but a bunch of punks.

I truely hope it never happens to you or your family. But if it did you would be a criminal for taking the law into your own hands.

He's not saying the cop is in the right. Read all the posts calmly. He's just stating that the kids aren't 100% innocent.

Yeah this is just going back and fourth. The cop should be slapped in the face and the kids should be grounded for a month.

I would go with wrist instead of face for the cop and your punishment for the kids would work for me.

The face would be more insulting and have a longer effect. No gameboys, Ipods, computers or TV for the kids.

I'm sorry, but now you're spreading false information and talking about subjects you have no clue about. Let's stick to known facts.

Again, this is just your opinion with drama added. No facts at all. Lets stick to facts please.

I think it is an interesting question. I don't know if the camara was hidden or not but it is suspect considering the edges of the screen are black like the camera is encased in something.

Trying to discredit him by saying he is "talking about subjects you have no clue about" just is not going to fly. Like you and everyone else on this board he has a right to voice his opinion.

You were willing to come out and hang this officer out to dry with nothing more than a video edited by the skateboarders. Maybe you should have educated yourself with a little more infomation on the "subject and facts" before flying off the handle there.

I'm involved in video and film production. The video is shot with a cheap single chip camera, with a "fisheye" adapter. That's why it looks funny. The black edges you see are the edge of the adapter.

Yes it is going to fly. He did not give his opinion. He stated it as FACT. I know for FACT what type of camera it was shot with (being hidden or not). He did not. He just took a guess and stated it as fact, and was wrong. Yes he has a right to his opinion. But he did not give his opinion. He stated them as facts.

FACT: He put a 13 year old girl who was not of no immediate threat in a choke hold. That's all I need to see.

Even that later press report doesn't address the kids' behavior after they were confronted by the police officer. Whether skateboarding is appropriate in that place in that town, or whether the cop was justified in grabbing that first kid is irrelevant to the behavior of the kids thereafter, or to the cop's reaction to them. As a public relations matter, I wouldn't expect the mayor to publicly support strong arm tactics against a bunch of kids, even if the cop is eventually cleared of any wrongdoing.
As to prejudice against skateboarders, let's put them on a long list of aggrieved parties. In my neck of the woods, a local town's constabulary is accused of killling latin american immigrants- I haven't checked to see whether they are on 'paid leave' but the charges are pretty serious. I would like to give them the presumption of innocence too; but, a little more serious than child-wrangling with a bunch of kids who do not have any idea about how to respond to an officer of the law.

After working with Legal Aid, I see stuff like this happen way too often, and they usually pick on the poor guys, not the guys with enough money to sue the cop/city. Not to say that they are all like that, but I've seen instances where clients get beat up and picked on because the cops would ask them leading questions and they ask something like I have nothing to hide, and if you have nothing to arrest me for I'm going home now thank you, and it'll be labeled as running from an office or resisting arrest.

Bottom line. Both parties are in the wrong to various degrees, and that's why they are both in trouble. Though, I do hope Williams loses his job.

He was raising a question to get to the FACTS. I'm confused how do you know for a FACT what type of camera was used. Were you saying above you a involved in video and film producton in general or are you stating you are directly involved with this film production.

FACT there is a witness stating that this 13 year old girl jumped the police officer off camera and on camera when he ordered her to sit down she said no. Then he he tried to detain her she started fighting it ended up with him having her and the other kid that jumped in to help her in head locks.

Tell me how would you have handled the girl after she defied your order. And had tried earlier to physically prevent you from detaining and arresting another person. Let it go? If you did then you would make a pretty ***** police officer. If he told her to sit down that's what she should have done. Period. When he grabed her she shouldn't have tried to resist. Period.

Now did he use excessive force. I will go along with that. But he had beligerant kids all around him. She already jumped him once and another grabed his arm while he was trying to make the first arrest. How much more **** do you expect him to take from these ADULTS (One was 19 and one 21) and Kids before he is allowed to use force to protect himself and get the situation under control.
