Front bottom of 360 scratched up in 1 month of driving. Dealer says he does not use skid plates because they reduce the small clearance already there & extra shock may damage bumper when hit. I don't buy it!!!

Searched 360 site & still have questions.

    1. What material to use? alum., titanium, delrin, or other?
    2. Method of mounting? bolts or mounting tape?
    3. Source for purchase? Hill Eng., or Premier Motorsports?
    4. Can plates be purchased curved and beveled?

    Any info appreciated.

I bought mine from Premier. Aluminum, curved, and bevelled. The backing plates were steel, so I replaced them with aluminum instead. Been very happy with them. If I had to do it again, I might opt for some form of black plastic (delrin, etc) so that when they scrape they remain black and stealth.

I got mine from ZR Auto in Alberta, Canada. As Lou described, mine were simply hard plastic black pieces that were bolted to the underside. They could not be seen by casual onlookers, and were absolutely necessary, at least for me, as I had further lowered my vehicle.

If you need any more info, PM me.

I do not have a great picture of them in situ, although this pic shows that they are fairly hidden when mounted properly.

Very inexpensive front end "insurance" imo.

I agree, that is kind of silly, as if smacking the front without skid plates would not damage the bumper when hit?

talked to nick at PLASTIC SUPPLY CO,800-832-6774. he says the ultra poly[uhmwpe] a type of olifin used under Hum-v's is best, has coef.of frict. similar to teflon but abrasion resist. 10 x that of carbon steel. I just might need that protection when the car goes to Iraq.
