I'm having an issue where very occasionally the final 5% of the top opening process will get hung up behind drivers seat where the softtop fabric stops the lid from closing entirely. I am also noticing this is producing very slight marks on the top when its closed. I tried searching but cant find any good info -- is there a diy fix for this or any advice besides taking to the dealer? This is an 07 f430 spider. Cheers

can you include pics of the marks you are meaning?

are you saying it stops with the capote lid open and it will not close?

I'll get a pic, but its 2 little lines about 8" apart above where the drivers head would be.

Yes, occasionally the capote lid will get stuck/not entirely close just on the drivers side. I can push the fabric in with my thumb and it'll close no problem. This only happens ~5% of the time, but gradually getting more consistent.

    Appreciate your quick reply!

My guess is that it's not folding correctly due to elastics. Pictures would help.

yeah on the closing sequence it could be elastics causing an issue. You can make sure to manually push the bar back when it's closing to see if there's a difference.

The micro switch behind the driver's head can also be incorrectly oriented. It should be triggered when the roof is fully seated in the tray. You can push it in manually to trigger the capote to close. I had an issue with mine not closing after I replaced the canvas (it was tighter than before), so I adjusted the switch slightly and now it works perfectly.

On the rips - it really depends on where it is. The front rubber gasket along the roof has metal pieces inside it so when the rubber tears, the metal ends can be exposed. When the roof closes, it can rub against the fabric and tear it. This piece isn't too hard to replace and isn't that expensive (250-400 iirc).

I got mine at eurospares. I have a 360 and it was this part https://www.eurospares.com/Parts/66459200/Ferrari; price has gone up since i got mine.

i believe it's the same part for the 430.

you can look at the ends and see if there is metal showing through - it'll be shiny
