I think that was for the heat.

I have done some of this stuff on my 328 (using Dynamat) and being objective, I don't think its cut the overall noise levels very much at all. All these mat products are sound deadeners rather than barriers, so what they do is to stop panels from resonating which, theoretically cuts noise levels. I think there is a difference, but its more of a change (for the better) rather than a reduction in the overall volume level. No way are you going to turn the thing into a Lexus!

One of the things about sound deadening material is also that you do not need to cover 100% of a panel for it to be effective. This saves both material and weight.

    See http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/products/cld

There are a couple of wav files on that page that demonstrate quite well what the stuff does.

For the trunk floor I used a sheet of Zircoflex 1 (http://www.zircotec.com/page/new-flexible-ceramic-products/97) underneath the trunk floor - so its above the heatshield above the silencer. Its not cheap but it has significantly reduced the heat in the trunk area. I figured that it was better to keep it out of there altogether. It also weighs basically nothing & is very thin. Clever stuff.

Hello, I have been trying to remove my rear header and cant seem to get it out of the car. In your post, it looks like you have removed it successfully (see pic with red circle). I have drilled out the rivets and removed the screws, it looks like it is channeled on the sides toward the back and just slides out??? Please let me know how you removed this piece. thank you - and nice job BTW...

Take the Brake light off, take the 2 targa clamps off and pull the header towards the front NOT down there are 2 clips beside the Brake light where the header slides in.

thank you for the reply, i dont have the brake light back there - i have a 1978. I thought it would slide out, but it wont budge so far. the headliner is channeled back there by the quarter window - right?? see pic again with red oval indicating where i might be hung up.

Sigmacars, all the work and insulation you have done are excellent specially if you're trying to keep the heat out of the cabin. But, if you don't solve the problem of how the heat are sneaking in from the front radiator to the inside of the car, it will always be warm in the cabin. So, if you can figure out how or where the hot air is going through please let us know. Thanks.:)

This is like the holy grail....I've been searching for a clean, appropriate way to deal with this for years.

I thought maybe by giving the heat/air flow an easier way to evacuate from the front end, this would lessen to transfer into the cabin. I added one of Gleggy's louvered panels under/behind the radiator. I was also thinking of replacing the inner front wheel well "stone guards" with a mesh that would allow air to flow freely out of the spare tire/radiator cavity....but this is still on my "to-do" list for the moment.

I did the front also, first i insulated the heater hoses, also changed the filters in front of the heat exchanger ( the foam ones where gone) then sealed the the space behind the spare tire moulding but you must be able to remove it for service, also closed the opening under the batterie so no more water, dust, stones, can enter from the bottom also heat would warm up the batterie cover and heat up the spare tire cavity.i have pic,s tonight.
