I'm impressed with what you're doing, and thanks for posting the photos. Your console looks great.

I do think that painting the seat rails added dimensional depth to the metal rails and the paint will eventually scratch and flake off. If this does become a nuisance a better alternative may be to blacken them (like a stain, used in the firearm industry, which interacts with the metal on a molecular level).

I’ve always contributed the heat in the cabin to the fact that the radiators are in the front and the motor is in the rear and it the lines carrying the coolant from the front to the back are like under floor radiant heating in a house, warming the whole floor from beneath.

I think to be successful you will have to find a way to insulate the coolant lines themselves.

    Just my $0.02 worth.

Other than that it looks like you are doing an amazing job.

Have you figured out how much weight you extra insulation will add to the car?

I did that all the way it helped but not perfect so the heat shield over the tunnel and floor will do the trick, but the firewall is very important also

Overheating while standing still as well as baking the occupants was becoming a big problem so I did the following. Keep in mind some of the charges are still in the testing phase, and all the changes are completely reversible also.

First off I removed the spare tire well to gain better access to the entire compartment. Wish I would have done this a year ago while replacing the brake lines. While replacing the old hoses I wrapped the aluminum pipes in Reflectix which is like a aluminum foil bubble wrap. This alone dropped the temp 30* under the hood.

Also used the Reflectix to build a heat barrier between this compartment and the cabin. This is behind the black Corex material that is behind the battery. Keep in mind there is no insulation here.

Next replaced the old vinyl fresh air flex tubes with an 3" flex aluminum pipe. This was to isolate the cooler fresh air coming in to the cabin from the heated air under the hood.

Then I put 7" fans under the fender grills to help pull out hot air when the car is sitting or in grid lock traffic.

Lastly, had the radiator cleaned and cored out, and added a shroud with two 12" fans pulling air. Also removed the factory fans and remounted the horns. The engine temp went from 195* to around 165*. Am still waiting for a nice hot day to see how hot it will get, but have noticed the temp in the cabin is a lot better.

I agree. I think when I do the engine out service I will have all the aluminum pipes ceramic coated.

Compliments on the nice work, but that is not impressing me as much as when I see the car apart and notice the body, and shell of the car....it is absolutely impeccable , no rust, clean paint work, and very tidy all around. That is the best looking naked body I've seen on a car, truly impressive seeing the underneath not only clean, but rust free from the pics....just stunning !

How to transport wine in a 308 without cooking it.
Note the cardboard tube behind the headrest. 2 of this will carry 10 bottles of wine away from engine heat. Picture taken in Pozzuli; Italy (outside Naples) on vacation last summer. We traveled Oslo - southern Italy - Oslo 4500 km without any carproblems . 1977 GTB

I took a piece of Corex and made a flap to fill this space, mainly to keep dirt and rocks from entering the battery compartment.

When you repainted the switches, did you mask and then spray paint, or paint with a brush by hand?

Either way, I presume you have some experience there as they look great.

thank you, what i did was take a fine brush and follow the orange logos with a light coat of oil then paint all over let it dry a bit longer the normal (1/2hr with OEM plasic trim paint)after just wipe them and the paint did not stick on the oil so the logos are all clean
