America is going down the toilet fast, so you may be able to pick up a Speciale fairly cheap in the next few years :-j A friend of mine has a Stradale and a Scuderia (he also has an 458 SA). I remember him telling me that the Scuderia has a ton more torque, but he enjoyed driving his Stradale more because of how light it felt compared to the Scuderia. I agree with you about the looks of the Speciale. Just something about the aggressive lines! As far as the Speciale exhaust sound goes, you can solve that issue no problem. I just replaced the OEM cats with Capristo 200 cell cats, and it made all the difference in the world! And if you want more you could replace the back box with a Capristo or Frequency Intelligence.
If you want to buy one here in Germany you're facing MSRP + X. The X-amount differs by a couple of thousands depending on spec, mileage etc. This car is going into its third year and the prices have gone only one direction. As long as interest rates stay low prices of exotics will remain high... That's for Europa though - in the states I would never sell my Speciale for anything near MSRP... No way ;-) In a couple of years when all cars will be either electric or 1-cylinder octa-turbo I want to open my garage, turn the key and start the best and last Ferrari Mid-engine V8. It's gonna take a huge amount of money to match that...
Just got back from a Sunday morning drive in my Speciale. If this car is not collectable then it should be used as therapy for those who have a hard time getting a smile on there face.
Last of the n/a v8's will be in the same category as the last of the air cooled 911 Porsches highly desirable. Faster isn't always the deciding factor, it's enjoy ability.
My reading of the tea leaves says that in 20 years most people will not remember the 488GTB. But the 458 Speciale and the 458SA will be highly coveted.
It's a collectible no doubt last of the breed , even more so with the introduction of the turbos on the 488 I have had 430,the Scuderia ,458 coupe and spider ,Speciale Aperta and now the 488 GTB and in 60 days the 488 spider the Speciale is a incredible finale
Agreed. Air cooled Porsches are a different beast. And for those who appreciate that fact, they are now collecting them. Eventually the same will happen with the Speciale, for those of us who appreciate/prefer NA engines.
Thanks for the congrads....100 miles on it's maiden voyage....traded my 3300 mile Scuderia. got $240 on the trade and some concessions along with below asking price...much different than the Scud...great people to deal with...Brian Wallin was a stand up guy...if you're in the market call him...shifting is seemless much morea refined & comfortable but a Monster...a different experience...I'm very happy...thanks to all of you who made the plunge before me and your input....it was invaluable
If you really want a "collectible" Ferrari sorry to say to all those speciale owners but you need to get 4 more cylinders. Think Enzo or GTO - unlikely to be a V8. Maybe the SA will have something special but not the coupe far too many available.
