is the carb cleaner going to damage the new belt? should I replace the belts or they are ok?

According to the attached article, no. Toss belts. Who knows? If you just replaced your own belts, the first set was practice.

Why would you hose the belt with carb cleaner? Just curious.

I replaced the belts with engine in situ and then was trying to clean the engine a little bit. Paid somebody else to do it only to find out they used a lot of carb cleaner..........

Wow, I have not knowledge of the correctness of the said article, but seems overly paranoid...like you should replace timing belts if you even look at them wrong...
