After 7 years on the waitlist, I finally got an allocation for Sine Qua Non. Problem is, I’ve kind of moved on. Used to be a huge fan/collector in years past but then expanded into more nuanced wines and varietals.

Nevertheless, I guess I’m glad to be in the “club” and have the option to buy my allocation instead of picking stuff up on the secondary market.

Anyone else get SQN allocations? How “enthusiastically” do you follow and buy the wines?

Was on the list for a long time dating back to early 2000’s. They made truly unique and impressive wines back then (May still, I have no idea).

sold a ton of it when I exited the wine collecting racket.

In the past, I was able to pick up bottles in 1-2-3-4 quantities off of K&L Wines and auction sites. Prices were less than I'm seeing now in my allocation. Maybe you're better off buying in the secondary market?

I actually got an allocation this week for one of their other vineyards, The Third Twin. $1400 for 5 bottles. Searching online, this stuff goes for $100/bottle more elsewhere so I guess it's a good deal. I ordered it.

I just got my annual email from them telling me how great they are and how I’m still a looser on the wait list . I almost replied with an unsubscribe .

7 years on waitlist is relatively quick. I received first offer in 2015 after 10 years on the list and take the fall and spring allocations. Usually wait 8-10 years before I open any of the reds and 5-6 years for the whites.
Besides Screaming Eagle, I think the longest wait list is MacDonald. Rumor is 10,000 people on the waitlist and they produce 500 cases a year.

They produce Next of Kyn, The Third Twin and his son produces Fingers Crossed

I posted this in the red wine thread. One of the first SQN bottles I bought from a retail shop in CA. I

I also bought a SQN case at wholesale from the Aulani Resort restaurant. Apparently, the wine director had to unload it because no one was buying it off the menu. Frankly, it was the best—if not the only good—thing about that trip.

We opened this ‘01 SQN On Your Toes last night to celebrate my mom’s 90th birthday. Despite a double wax cap and careful storage, the cork was a little punky. But the wine was out of this world. Big and jammy with no discernible tannin or base. Amazing nuance and depth. That said, probably a little past its prime.

Nice!. I put my EBA's away for 10 years before I open the first one. The 2013 and 2014 Eleven Confessions (Capo de Putti, Testa dei Cherubini and les Supplement ) are standing up in the cellar getting ready to drink soon.

Or, too many other wines to drink?? I had lunch last week with a friend that brought a 2009 Turn the whole thing upside down. Fantastic! It was his last bottle and it is drinking well.

Got an email about their sister line, Next of Kyn this week. I emailed them and told them I am interested in acquiring some.
