Anyone else have a dead pedal that squeaks? Drives me nuts. See video at https://goo.gl/photos/x3Q78XgXRgNuZzPT6 . It is not the rubber cover -- it makes the same noise if I lift the rubber and press the metal portion underneath. It must be between the chassis and the riveted metal cover. It has been like this since new (2002) but I've just lived with it, and it seems worse now.

My 360 isn't my first or only Ferrari. I ordered it new and I take great car of my cars so anytime anything goes wrong I figure it must be a common issue -- but I couldn't find anything on this one. I read the post http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/334506-360-430-diy-guide-install-aluminium-dead-pedal.html and suspect that might fix the issue since drilling holes through both metal pieces and screwing them together is likely to remove any play but I was curious if anyone else had experienced (or fixed) this before I drill a bunch of holes and drop $200 on an aftermarket bling piece for my otherwise stock car.

While discussing common issues, I'm surprised that there isn't one sticky thread on the subject. Seems like it would be helpful. I found this http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/334949-360-reliability-common-problems.html but it doesn't have much and the sticky thread about buying a 360 is 12 pages long with a lot of posts that are useful when discussing purchase but irrelevant for an owner looking to see if their issue is common or has already been addressed. The DIY thread is great and one can glean some info on common issues from there but it certainly doesn't cover them all. I'd start the post but my car has been fairly reliable so I'm sure others out there are much more qualified. My issues have been:

    The usual:
Notchy 2nd gear when cold (since day 1) (6 speed) - dealer replaced fluid, etc. and eventually just told me to live with it. (I double clutch when cold) http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/209272-bad-synchro-2nd-gear-my-360-a.html
Shifter sometimes hard (baulky) to get into 1st or 2nd even when warm (No unusual play if shifter so I live with it) http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/technical-q-sponsored-algar-ferrari/289226-360-hard-get-into-1st-2nd-gear.html
Sticky interior bits (been tackling these a few at a time) http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/391833-diy-sticky-interior-repair-using-degreaser-elbow-grease.html
Dash leather shrinkage and defroster vent popup (just happened to me. Frustrated) http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/411394-360-dashboard-restoration-repair.html
Difficulty refueling - premature fuel fill shutoff (periodically need to replace charcoal canister. No, I don't top off.) http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/318745-solution-problem-trying-fill-gas-360-a-2.html
Brake warning light flicker (fluid level - not parking brake). Level was fine, new cap didn't fix -- had to replace master cylinder to resolve that one http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/318390-brake-warning-light-flickering-360-a.html
Front fender upper lip rub, bent - stock 18" wheels/tires. My lips were bent but a paintless dent guy was able to roll them back without issue. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/103154-360-modena-front-fenders-rub.html

    Unusual?
    Squeaky dead pedal
Chips in door panel paint from seat belt (live with them) - I have to believe this is common but I didn't find a thread on the subject
Left rear wheel studs coming loose (even after having been tightened to spec 74 lb/ft) - I just check them periodically

Not looking forward to, but can probably expect:
    Headliner to fall down http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/521320-diy-headliner-repair-pix.html
    What else?

The dead pedal is just glued on so it is easy to remove just pull on it. You can put it back on with double sided tape. When it is off you should be able to see whatever the issue is for you. I don't understand how it could make any noise.

Your shifting should be good when the system is warm. If there is no time when it works well, from when it is cold to when the car is good and hot, then you need to adjust something. Shifter bushing from Hill Eng is a good DIY. My car has three phases of feedback.

Cold - "sometimes" not super smooth for first and second if I am careless.
Warm - "better" than when cold
Good and Hot - "perfect" shifting. It takes about 30 minutes of driving to get to this level of readiness.

Sorry about your dash. If that ever happens to me I am not sure how I will feel about it. That could really mess up my ownership experience since there are very few craftsmen out here. The manual that came with your car says that you are to condition the leather every 3-4 months so that is a lot of work that I suspect that folks just don't do. I mean a LOT of people bought the car for a status symbol and don't even drive them. Do you really think they are going to wipe down all those leather surfaces every 90 days over the course of their ownership? It takes a lot longer than washing it!

I will go one further with this. If you don't have anything to say about which leather conditioner you like and why you may not be a good steward of your car. There is so much leather in the car that almost any size bottle will only last you about 6 months! So as an owner, it doesn't take long before you have bought enough product to be qualified to talk about it.

Disclaimer: I am not saying you OP don't care for your leather, my comments are directed to others. If I was going to buy a car from a private party I would want to see their shelf of all the "stuff" that it takes to keep these awesome machines tip top. If they have had the car for any length of time they should be able to wax poetically about car care products.

As a buyer of a new 360.. when it's under a thing called "warranty".. you didn't bring it in to have it fixed? ;) Mine has 61xxx miles on it and there is no squeak when you press on it. Stop assuming that things breaking on the car are "normal"...

Pull off the rubber and you'll find a metal backing plate as you have. Drill out the rivets that hold it on and replace them. I would suspect that the rivets are incompletely applied and the pedal is loose.. thus when you press on the pedal the tight but not tight enough rivet is causing the squeak via the rivet moving along the chassis or the carpet moving along the chassis causing the squeak. You might be able to replace just one or two on the top most and bottom most aspect of the pedal and "tighten it". If you have to replace all the rivets then you might be able to lift the carpet and tack it down with a shot of 3M adhesive so it doesn't move and cause the squeak. I'd replace two rivets on it nice and tight and see if that resolves the issue. If not, if redrill them and look deeper under the carpet, consider an extra layer, perhaps as simple as some cloth electrical tape between the carpet and the chassis and then reapply the rivets.

That's just the car telling you to push more on the pedal on the opposite side.

I bought a used one two years ago and have none of the problems you have, apart from the sticky thingy (just remove the sticky stuff and you have normal knobs) and leather shrinkage, but it is only a little bubble on the air bag panel, and it goes away in sunny weather. Squeaky breaks come an go with replacement pads and disk. It shifts like a charm, drives like a monster, and has none of the other problems you mention. Perhaps I should just wait a year or two, and it will materialize?

Wow, you've live with the crunchy 2nd gear shift for 14+ years?
I lived with it for ~ 3 weeks after I bought my 2000.
I just swapped out the Shell 75-90 Gear Oil with Redline 75-90 and shifting was IMMEDIATELY better.
I did not use the NS (Not Slippery) since I saw no point in buying NS and then adding a bit of "friction modifier" (slippery stuff)
Shifting is very good now and the LSD works fine @ track days.

Headliner, yeah the OEM POS foam failed on my car too and I went out to the garage one day to find the headliner drooped over the drivers seat.

I bought some foam at the local upholstery shop, cut it to fit and glued it back in place using spray adhesive.
    Total cost = $23.00.

    Cheers

    Craig
