I have one gear indicator light on the top of my 458 steering wheel that is out. Can this be fixed or does the dealer have to replace the steering wheel? Car has full extended warranty. Thanks. Don Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Don I absolutely have no idea if they can be changed out or repaired...... But.....if you find they can....it may be kinda kool to change them from all red to a staggered series's of green Blue Red like in the F1 cars...... If that was an easy mod that would be really kool... Regards Michael P.s. Nice ride man!
Nice looking car There is a specific Ferrari part number for the LEDs: Ferrari 458 Italia - Steering Column: Page 032 | Order Online Eurospares Apparently no access to individual LEDs though.
Should be able to repair, its a simple light unit. Big difference between exchanging (if possible) than getting a new steeringwheel. Tell us what the seller did to solve it, nice to know.
If Eurospares is selling the whole LED assembly, I strongly suspect it isn't built to allow a simple, unique LED lamp replacement. In any case, if someone dedicated him/herself to changing an individual light and the actual color of individual LEDs, it would be awesome. Not much sense in all having the same color, imho. Kind regards, Nuno.
Fully agreed. No way I can count the LEDs when I am focused during a spirited drive or on track. Changing the colors should not be that difficult ... provided one have dismounted the LEDs module from the wheel. I have not seen any detail or procedure to separate them.
Eric That is so Kool.... Can you share with us how you have done that so as we can replicate it... be good to,know where you got all the parts from.. Regards Michael
That's pretty simple. I bought a spare LED display, reference 214236. It is easy to take appart and to have access to the PCB and the LEDs. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Eric, that is indeed extremely cool! Better than OEM imho (all red). Will look extremely cool on a CF steering wheel at night. Kind regards, Nuno.
Thank you Eric Great info and a great result. Where did you source the new display from did you get it from a dealer or eurospares? Was it difficult to source the leds to that spec? Were they from marlin or radio shack? Regards Michael
I got the new LED display from Germany, it was an old stock so I got it a bit cheaper than Eurospares or Red Parts (in France). Just try to google " Ferrari 214236" ... The reference of the green LEDs is : HSMM-A430-X90M2 The reference of the blue LEDs is : LB T66G-U1BA-59-Z I bought the LEDs from : www.rs-particuliers.com
You can find the instructions there : http://www.macarbon.com/install_guides/ferrari/MAcarbon_Ferrari_LED_Shift_Light_Installation_Instructions.pdf
I personally would love to see them in action in a video! They must be ever cooler than on photos. Kind regards, Nuno.
