Hi everyone! I an trying to buy/ find a steering wheel nut socket for My TR but i can’t seem to get it right. I bought one on ebay but it was too big. Where can i get a TR one? A reasonably priced one that is. Any links appreciated!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I made one by myself. also for the nuts for the gearbox and for the other special nuts. not a big problem when you have the machines how do you call those special nuts in US? locknuts? otherwise you may go to a machine shop, they can make one for you when you give them the dimensions. those I have not here because for staying again during european wintertime in thailand
If you're in the US: https://www.ricambiamerica.com/rnt-28-28mm-ring-nut-tool.html If you are in Europe/Asia, buy RNT-28 direct from Hill Eng: http://www.hillengineering.co.uk/catalog/rnt28-p-65.html Although it seems expensive, it should be readily resaleable as it is also used on other 28mm ring nuts -- e.g., cam drive sprocket ring nuts on 308/BB, etc.(and I don't pay myself less than $100/hr so I'm not hassling with making one ). However, please confirm the 28mm size before purchasing as I'm just going from memory...
thank you for the tip steve but when I needed it first time I needed it soon, not in a couple of days - so I made this one. and a friend of mine is teacher in mechanical school and his students made all other for me so are those nuts called "locknuts"? can noit find other translations. in german they are called "ringnutmutter"
Thanks!! 97$ isnt that bad! I wish i had bought the correct one from the get go ! Much appreciated steve! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have machine shop tools in the shop and if I can't buy the one I want, I just make it. It is nice to be able to make the tools you need to work on these cars.
it is always good to be independent because then you just can make what you need also it is so that mostly you may need a special tool as soon as possible and not 1 or 2 days later
My profession was a machinist. Easier for me to make it, than wait for it. Friend say you can buy it for x amount. I say by the time I drive or whatever, it is made!
Exactly David..... take a flex/right angle grinder and make one yourself in 15 minutes ... For $ 10 .... For the steeringwheel only 4 notches ... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Some of the ring nut tools for the early cars are not made by anyone, so you have to make them yourself. The tool that Melvok made will work fine on nuts with low torque settings. For higher torqued nuts, you make the same tool and then weld piece of tubing to the outside of the socket and to each tooth. This supports the teeth and centers the socket on the ring nut.
