Please spread the word a lady has had her (original) 500 stolen from outside her house in Windsor NSW on Fri 14 September, and not yet found. She has owned the car for 20 years...I'm feeling her pain; please spread the word in any car circles you know.

    Some bottom feeders no doubt.

I've flicked it across to our Gallic cousins.

This car is currently registered in NZ and has been getting warrants of Fitness also. Maybe it is one of the unique swimmer models?

Yeah, the "Bambina" badge marks it as a NZ assembled car. I just assumed the plate is old NSW. I first heard about this through a Fiat/Lancia newsletter so have no reason to think it's a fraud? But I'll enquire further...

The NSW police can't get a handle of the current gun crime wave. Let alone find stolen cars :(

OK here's the explanation - so please put the word out to any car people you know in Sydney area.

"My Dad owned it in NZ until last year when we bought it from him and brought it to Australia. Most of the pics have the NZ plates as they were taken in NZ to apply for the importation license. He has had had the same rego number since he was first registered in Invercargil in 1968, so we got personalised plates with that number (DL7115) when we registered him in NSW last year. I thought the registration in NZ was no longer current, but maybe I missed something in all the paperwork when we exported him - perhaps I need to contact the NZ people to double check. I hope that all makes sense to you. "

Plates in the pics are the original NZ plates so current ones look different but have same characters.

After Invercargill there is miles of sea then lots of ice - wonder if it is this car - story at the time said it went back to New Zealand and was back on the road.

Yep! Pretty much no where a Bambi can't go (except on min 130km/hr autostrada :( )
PS Sunroof was standard - no hard top option since canvas is cheaper than steel! Can't remember which bit the metal from the roof cutout was then pressed to form; Giacosa designed every pressing in the car so as to minimise wastage.

Is the Bambi still missing - they are very mobile in NZ and can get around the 130km/hr limit.

    Was it ever found?

Right up with getting broken into, something i endured multiple times.

Modern cars are a disaster you need garage them [how do you do that out and about daily?] and metal cage the FOB

Push button start, right up with other useless features like electric seats, and climate control

There are plenty of guns in Australia.

You just need the right licencing and permits :)

Not as far as I know... and the other great scam with the 'keyless' entry is handbags get stolen at restaurant / shopping centre and the thief just walks around the carpark until the car identifies itself for removal. Neighbour's garage was broken into last week, but he'd left it unlocked. My babies are safe with their doors locked by key, in a garage that's locked by key (no auto opener).

Here is a video from 6mths ago which shows what they are doing better. Using relay boxes one person scans the house for the keyfob rolling code signal the other person standing next to the car gets the relayed signal. The car thinks the key is nearby, doors open press start and away you go.

On ebay you can get faraday key holder bags for like $10 or just buy a pack of Twisties :p http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-11-27/employee-sacked-over-chip-packet-deception-faraday-cage/9196732

Tho I was just reading the other day that you can open a BMW using bluetooth exploits so a faraday cage is useless :p

Bloody hell....all this talk made me paranoid. I went to use my mobile to turn on the heating in the car so it's all nice and comfy when I get into it (It's 4 degrees here)....and the app said "Vehicle in Motion. Remote services will be limited when vehicle is in motion"

You should have seen the speed at which I ran outside....only to find it was exactly where I left it, of course.

    Phew
