The fact that they have a key would trouble me...... since they pulled this stunt once.

Glad you got it back. I bet you still feel violated.

Shops have a lot of 3rd party traffic in and out.....plus friends family who stop by... fan boys etc..... suspect someone around the inner circle. My op.

On the subject of insurance: my 550 got totalled by an act of whatever, hit by a falling tree during a storm while in storage facility this winter. The storage shop organised insurance payment, I didn’t have to do anything, agreed value paid, my insurance not affected. Repair, storage, service etc businesses are businesses, and the majority which are honourable and honest don’t get enough plaudits.

It is always possible but it would seem unlikely to me. Ferrari owners and their friends generally are “higher end” and why would they want to steal a car and risk all the legal issues that entails. About a year ago on another thread here a car was stolen from Newport Beach Ferrari’s service facility. That is about a mile from where the OP’s car was stolen. It was stolen by a meth head that was strung out and wanted to go for a joy ride. We have a lot of those around here and that is probably the more likely scenario.

I don’t think that is correct as the garage is the Bailee of the vehicle and the customer had reasonable expectations that the garage would keep the car safe from theft. Leaving the keys in the car does not meet the standard of protection of the vehicle’s bailment.
The garage is “legally liable” IMO, and should be primary. That said most folks would rather turn the claim into their own insurance carrier and have their insurance company subrogate against the garage’s “garage keepers legal liability” insurance.
