it would most probably be bidded from someone from the inside. A car like this would deff have Buyers, from all over the world
"rotting in the desert"? Looks like a parking lot or paved impound lot to me. Yeah, covered in dust - but isn't everything that's outside in Dubai? The article makes it sound like this journalist was wandering through the dunes when Lo! and Behold! there was an Enzo half buried in the sand! Did he also "stumble" on the dozens of other luxury cars in that impound lot? Repossessed maybe - "abandoned, rotting in the desert" - give me a break. Jedi
Did you even read the article old man, err Mr. Jedi? Pic posted to save a click... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes of course. I was merely ragging on the hyperbole of the author/reporter saying they "stumbled upon an Enzo rotting in the desert". What a ridiculous tag line just to get someone to read an article. Yes, I know the headline "repossessed sports car in police impound" wouldn't have quite the drama.... Just sayin Jedi
Drain the tank, new tires, new fluids and most likely a new paint job or a VERY good buff and $20k later and it is back to new again, plus whatever you pay for it.
any info on the exact location of this police park? it could be quite easy to collect info on the futur of this car in this case, even requesting to some nie local people having more than strait contact with authorities, so!
Regardless of the circumstances as to WHY it's there it's still really sad to see it in this condition and environment.
It could also be an Enzo sitting in a parking lot during an event and the sand is simply a result of a bi-weekly sand storm. Slow news day.
Spot on, it's unbelievable how low level auto journalists can produce low level content, and how fast the info spreads in a snowball method with a story build around it. That's how urban legends are made. That picture was originally posted by a friend of mine (which family is related to the automotive sector in the UAE, some nice cars they have) on different facebook fanpages - because it's not everyday you see a sight like this, he wanted to get some publicity. I don't remember which automotive blogs made a story out of it including this nice urban legend of abandoned cars in Dubai, then generalist blogs/media picked up, and so on, it landed on Ferrarichat. The picture itself is old, probably 2-3yrs old and was spread among BBM chat users - UAE population loves blackberry - through automotive-related group discussions on BBM that local youngsters are really fond of (yes they don't only use those for work purposes, as we do). The car was impounded, in the UAE they don't cancel your driving license, they impound your car. The dust you see on the car can be generated, during hot spring times, in less than 36 hours. DANG. Thank you, good night.
Seems liek this car would be a great canidate to repaint into another ferrari color with minimal consequence to the value. Sort of like they did with the blue enzo.
google about abandon car in dubai and i found this http://chrisoncars.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/abandoned-jaguar-xj-3w.jpg
