That the vehicle will not run due to a tail light out seems extreme and, quite honestly, ridiculous. I questioned a recent post but the respondent stood their ground and insisted this to be the case. Has anyone experienced such a phenomenon? No doubt I am not the only one concerned about this.

I'm with you on that one....didn't understand why that "feature" would be a good thing. Before it could happen to me, I changed the tail lights out to LED which have circuitry built in to bypass that function.

I am not talking about a Honda here but don't we usually get a warning light that "Your Taild Light Is Out" instead of shutting the car off??? This is too much to handle.. I need to learn how to change tail lights on DIY or change tail lights with annual fluid change?

I am also waiting for other chat members experienced this issue...

Well, I know that I had a whole taillight assembly out - a tech put the connector on backwards- and drove around with it out until another driver told me. And the car started and drove normal. No warning light. This was a 360.

A faulty brake switch will keep the car from starting/ moving, can't remember which

You guys in your F1's... they want you to press the brake before you start it to ensure it doesn't drive through the garage wall by accident. Its the nature of the beast..

I have the scudding Swiss led tail lights with the bypass as well. They look great and give peace of mind.

Thanks for responses. Still uncertain, however, if all lights must be out or just one bad bulb can cause no shifting. This whole business is certainly very disconcerting.

Since the F1 system has been around for 18 years now and we don't hear of this happening except when the brake light fuse is blown, it would be easy to confirm that all the brake lights have to be not functioning. That is an extremely unlikely occurrence as that includes a lot of bulbs (left, right and center strip of multiple bulbs). If it only took one bulb out to cause a problem, we would see a lot more threads on the subject.

Not sure why this would concern you...

If it happens again. Make sure you stop on a hill, when your car is in motion, you can engage the F1 gears and make it home. I found this out on accident and was very glad I found this out. It is the only way you can engage the car into gear when you have the brake light malfunctioning with the F1 system.
