I have just carefully looked at my OLD original seals :) there is a packing in the seal at the bottom front corner. No wonder the original stays without kinks. I will transfer the filler to my new seals next time I am in the garage.

Like a round short piece of foam inside the opening (channel) at the crucial points?

Yes, my stock ones had such foam internal reinforcement pieces at the bottom front corner (extending maybe ~2" onto the straight section on each side -- didn't prevent my stock gaskets from buckling/rippling in the bottom front corner) and a ~3" piece across the joint. I believe that they were originally round, but mine had taken a flattened shape set -- I also had to trim them to a smaller width to get them inside the smaller sealing bulb of the new (K. Wittig supplied) gasket.

Finally got some time to set up new cloth seal to see how it sits around the front curve. There is no filler strip inside and the seal forms around the corner perfectly with no sign of any kinking. The black cloth when not alonside the fuzzy black is not noticable. You can see the seal is the exact profile of the original which is still on the horizontal run. I think this is pretty close.

    Which "stuff" is this?

Without forcing me to go all the way back through this thread again ( I did it once already) could you provide part number and source?

    Two observations and or comments........

First' thanks to all that have enjoyed the door seals they requested. I had not looked at this thread for sometime and was pleasantly pleased to see that Steve and others took the time to give a high-five!

Secondly, "This is still an issue?", Wow...

Check out my FerrariAds, http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/vbclassified.php?do=ad&id=7648 http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/vbclassified.php?do=ad&id=8562 I still have 2 sets left (just shipped sets to Virginia, Manitoba, CAN and to Germany) as well as consoles, hoses, and no more "breaking" brake vaccum shafts.

I also have a couple cars for sale over there too!!

    Observant Me
