I can see that! I think the critical thing folks have to remember is older ICE is not going to be banned. I would be the first in the streets to riot if that happened.

Just like when cars replaced horses, it's not like horses were banned. Or when ICE replaced steam.

The transition from horses to gasoline-powered cars was a struggle at first, and some people resisted this change. It took about 50 years to complete.

Horses are not only self-feeding, self-controlling, self-maintaining and self-reproducing, but they are far more economical in the energy they are able to develop from a given weight of fuel material, than any other existing form of motor.
-Robert Thurston, a U.S. steam engine expert in 1894

We see Neo-Luddism, with all this nonsense about ICE being advantageous in the long run. I'm not talking about the environment.

I'm talking about performance, reliability, and comfort. Anybody that doesn't understand is indeed deluding themselves. I get it; many folks need to catch up with all these changes. It is scary to most folks not in a position to take advantage of all these rapid developments.

Here's some advice if one falls in this camp, the shifts are only going to accelerate. So if a person can't handle it, they should make their "get off my lawn" signs now.

Just not something I expect in a forum where the 'creme de la creme' of society dwell. Read the room yeah?

Hence it always surprises me in this Ferrari forum; then I realize there are fundamental shifts afoot; it reminds me of those aristocratic folks in old manners in Europe that could hardly pay to keep the lights on.

I’m almost at the point where I’ve stopped caring what Ferrari and other car makers offer in the future so long as it meets the needs of those buyers and allows them to sustain viable businesses.

There are enough current and past models to satisfy my personal desires. Modern classics are engaging to drive, sound great and are fast enough for me. I don’t need ‘more’.

No doubt there will be some solution that will be of more benefits than the 1.5 century old ICE (even if it's been continuously improved).
The issue with the current evolution is that it's not driven by its advantages, it's forced by lobbyists having embraced a questionable ideology.

I fully agree with you the biggest issue is political and ideological, and not one of performance. That's what I've been saying for years now. I guess as a person that doesn't care if a car's designer is a (D) or (R), it never mattered to me. I just ask, can it go like it hell? How does it look? How does it handle? How is the reliability?

Yes, and I admit, I'm a science fiction fan, X-wing fighters always sounded 'cool to me.' Judging at how people react in South Beach or Las Vegas trip (especially the ladies) when a Porsche Taycan pulls up with it's Star Trek sound, let's just say, I don't think I'm the only one. Avatar, "Way of the Water" with it's video game excess just crossed 2 billion dollars, globally, so I don't think this is just an American phenomenon either. Whenever I talk to kids, it appears the majority of the like video games and the artificial sounds that come with it...is this just a passing fad? Many folkers here on Ferrarichat tell me it is.

I like cigars, and as far as if they cause cancer and whether one should switch to electronic vapes has become as political as this topic has.
I acknowledge that some have varying degrees of viewpoints on what legislative actions, say for cigarettes or whether they cause cancer (or say a nuanced position. like the severity/timeline/prevalence.)

I remind you wherever you fall on that debate; this is not the thread for that; we have a P&R section if you would like to express your displeasure about legislative actions against ICE or tobacco (or GMOs, incandescent lights, percocet, CFCs, auction of old spectrums, car pool lanes, whatever political thing that is upsetting you today.)

Apparently somewhere in today's earnings call it was announced there would be four new models this year (not three as previously)

Actually, never before have off-road(track only) cars been included, only homologated road cars, I do not believe that will change.

Coupes and Spiders are always separately counted.

Yes. Would that mean that our ICE cars are going to be even more special and valuable?

Laws need to be changed (2035+), at least governments should accept hybrids for decades to come. A new Ferrari hybrid would still work for me after 2035, keeping the ICE engine alive with all its sensations, ...

I have not read about a hardtop convertible coming back in the future. Any chances one is in the work?

About the same as I'd have guessed. Not sure about the order of launches though. Do we think the F250 and F250 Aperta will launch at the same time, when the LaF and LafA launched 3 years apart?
