I may have the gadget that sucks the brake fluid back to the bleeder. I’m wondering if jacking the front if the will allow a gravity assist….
Amateur ... the priestess's are the ones who are naked and swinging the dead chickens ... When I was in HS I had an after school and weekend job with the local TV & Radio repair shop. The owner was pretty avant-garde and involved with local theatrical productions. This was NYC metro and there lots of celebrities living in the area like Douglas Edwards, Walter Cronkite and such. So one day I cked up one of his NYC produced glossy magazines that featured X rated pictures of said Voodoo practices. It's where I got this obvious parody of an idea. He was so fun to work for and I went everywhere in that job into some very famous mansions on the CT side of Long Island sounds. Great Gatsby type stuff. I don't remember the routing for that circuit but like on my race car sometimes the twists and bends can trap bubbles temporarily. Repeated bleeding ... just like 18th century doctors used to do to their patients until their suffering stopped! Getting a pressure cap on the reservoir might be tricky which is maybe why Gene suggested what he did.
I think I'll try jacking up the front for a gravity assist and use the suction device at the slaves bleeder valve. Will report back if that worked.
I was never successful with vacuum bleeding on the Bora clutch. It works very well on brakes on other cars, but the bora clutch line is long and has many bends that trap air bubbles
Hello all. For those of you with an excess of time and money and ambition, Bora 204 needs your help on BaT! It has spent many years in a field in Alaska…..yes it probably belongs on ‘offer of the day’ Here is the auction at no reserve https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-maserati-bora-7/ Don’t all rush at once! Mark
Hi chaps, been a while, I am determined to get this 74 Bora finished. Ive spent the past few years gathering parts and been mostly successful. I am however having no luck with the following, any of you good members got any of it? Take it nobody knows of anyone parting one??? Rear engine cover glass, upper and side with gasket and trim LH lower door stainless trim/scraper that then goes up the back of the door RH door card, any condition for re trimming All the internal door card handle and mech Engine cover central carpet thing Front windscreen gasket and the headlight trim ring for both sides the bit that is painted body colour Front hatch stainless slam panel Hub caps/moon caps x4 Also is any of you in the Hampshire/Surrey/Sussex area, it would be handy to see a complete one for when I get stuck.
Looks like you are the right person for the BaT Bora: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-maserati-bora-7/ Buy it, keep the bits you need and then sell the rest. I doubt it would be make much sense financially to ship it from Montana to the UK. Ivan
Ivan you absolute legend! It has all the parts I need. so if I buy it who wants the rest of the car….if you can store it and let me take the bits I need?
OMG. That poor car. There are areas that are completely rusted through. I don't think its restorable. But the parts are rare.
It would be best if you can find a place near where the car is located to store it while you take it apart. Shipping it from Montana to anywhere in the east coast of the USA will be expensive. I'll buy the Bosch and Citroen hydraulic parts. Ivan
I am happy to help and have room for it, but as Ivan said it may be difficult as I’m in the Atlanta area. Someone nearer to the car would be best. Feel free to shoot me a pm if you have any other ideas
That is very kind of you. I will consider it. It makes sense to buy it, ship it to a bora owner nearer, crate the bits I want then put it back up on BAT?
Better buy that Bora before Beverly Hills Car Club buys it and lists it as Just out of long storage with beautiful patina. Anyway I have my new master clutch cylinder in place and my God its hard to get it bled. Virgins, Chicken and the following: using a suction brake bleeder at the slave I though I had the pedal starting to get firm but not enough. Then jacked up the front of the car to see if gravity would help. Then had a friend come and slowly pump the pedal a few times then hold it while I broke open and closed the bleeder. The slave is moving but not enough to get the car into gear. Is there an optimum way to pump and bleed this? Like3 or 6 or 20 slow pumps then bleed? And is it best to crack the bleeder and have the assistant slowly depress the clutch pedal or better to have them bottom out the pedal and crack the bleeder? I don'thave the pressure assisted bleeding device mentioned by eogorman earlier.
Looking at that Bora, Jimmy Stewart/George Bailey would probably say "sort of a fallen angle, aren't ya?"
