At least in Europe, Daytonas are getting some love. Good cars change hands for around 800.000€ (or roughly 900.000$) But like everywhere, the difference between really good cars and average cars is widening. And most of the cars currently for sale are average cars. Or worse. It is not easy to find a good one out there at the moment.
One day Daytona will be soaring. Regrets, too late... Cannot have top notch Dino be worth as a low Daytona, no sense in that. Regards, Alberto
there might be hope, some of us 80's kids don't remember when they were new, but we fell in love with it in Miami Vice (replica). We're now in our 40-50's and might be first opportunity for us to enter the Daytona market.
I've missed out on better deals like the 288 GTO for $315k or the 250 PF Cab II for $160k, but another on the list was a beautiful yellow Daytona Boardwalk had for $310k.
After having owned over 100 vintage cars in past 40+ year, I never kept track of how many got or I let get away. One of the more "memorable" ones was a decent, drivable '70 Hemi Challenger Conv. for $12K (asking, might've got it for $10K or $11K) from a friend. Had the money and knew how rare it was, but just didn't care for a car with so much plastic & vinyl in its interior. And list includes a couple of vintage (and little later model) Ferraris too, but in hindsight with all things considered, probably it was smart I walked away.
The Daytona along with the Ghibli , was a quintessential GT car, built for long distance, high speed touring. As many have said, apples and oranges compared to earlier cars. As a Maserati owner, I would love a Daytona, probably the Ferrari most like a Maserati.
…I can sympathize with all the Daytona owners and their “lowly” values BUT what is radically perplexing are Boxer values-especially BBI’S(of which I own!)…will never understand how in such an incredible bull market on ALL cars the Boxer lags bigtime!…I love my Boxer and hope to keep it forever but I’m ready to pack it in work wise and selling the Boxer when/if values ever increase would “inch” me closer to retirement…
I've owned my '84 Boxer since '85 and i'm so over it. The BBI never gets any love. Even if we hit $300K consistently ill be happy. The Daytona number for me is + or - $700K.
