Is that the dictionary entry under "hideous"?

Even though it looks like it was molded after the Mitsuoka-Orochi some of the design elements on the front might be on the final car.

He's right. I once did a bit of 3D modeling of cars for fun, and the prevalent technique was to model the surfaces with as few vertexes/triangles as possible and then let a "filter" smooth it. The picture shows all the marks and artifacts of a bad application of that smoothing filter (or rather: a bad underlying model).

Home 3D printers are coming very soon.
Looks like they may be a mixed blessing.

    ???!!!??!!!

There will be an XX version (probably 2015).

As fast as a Challenge 458?!?! At Valencia the quickest XXs driven by amateurs were as fast as the pole sitter (a pro) in a 458 Challenge.

So the F150 in an XX version better be quicker than a challenge car!!!!

You would know :) And yes, given that the current 599XX EVO is significantly faster than the 458 Challenge (e.g. Ferrari lists 1.5 secs difference at Fiorano) it seems rational to conclude the F150XX is going to be a monster.

I am looking forward to it!

As I said if the street legal version was on slicks it would be as fast as 458 Challenge car, I was NOT referring to the xx version.

Is that very impressive to only be as quick as a Challenge car especially provided it was on slicks? Maybe I am missing something but that is a bit underwhelming?

It is very impressive, seeing as this is just the mule, without the active aero. Here are some times for comparison:
    458 Challenge 1:16.50
    Enzo 1:24.90

It is about 6 seconds faster than the Enzo WITHOUT the active aero. A road car being as fast as track purpose Ferrari is amazing.

Or alternatively, it makes the 458C look like a complete bargain...

    Interesting!
But don't you think slicks give more than 2.4 s at Fiorano?

I stand partially corrected, but I would be hoping in the 1.15's on road tyres to be truly impressive but maybe that is unrealistic, and could active aero make that big a difference? regretfully unlikely.

These lap times are at Fiorano I assume? Fiorano is a relatively tight, technical track. I would expect the difference to be more in favor of the new car on a track with longer straights where it can use its (presumed) tremendous power advantage.

You mention the active aero - is it a DRS system, or a fan or other active low pressure system? Or possibly both?

1:15 would mean that it is almost as fast an FXX evo around Fiorano, which is a car with 900hp, that weighs more than 500 pounds less and has slicks. For a road car that weighs over 3,000 pounds on street tires that is really unrealistic.

You are correct, makes sense, I am just being hopeful but then assume the FXX version would be a league better on slicks? What would you envisage?

I very much hope that the idea Ferrari are currently considering regarding the next xx project sticks. It would change the super car game.

Having the option to instantly convert your regular f70 to an fxx for the weekend?

That would justify the two options and big price difference for who doesn't care about xx.
