+1. The F150 is not being developed to compete with any Lamborghini on the market today. Its direct competitors will be the Porsche 918 Spyder and the McLaren P1.

Most Ferraris actually were not designed to compete with Lamborghinis. The way I see itFerrari makes cars and Lamborghini just plays catch up all the time.
As far as the "new Enzo" goes, I don't think there is going to be any competition from anyone , as far as a combination of Looks, performance, feel and desirability.

Not sure that is entirely accurate... The Miura being the first mid-engined road car ever caused Ferrari to play catchup. The Countach despite its flaws caused Ferrari to continuously play catchup with performance upgrades to it's 512 BB to cite a couple of examples. Also note that Lambo has access to resources and technology from VW now that arguably surpass Ferrari and its parent FIAT.

Having said that the F70's competitor(s) will be the Mac P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder as has been previously stated.

Not so sure. The "Daytona" was better than the Miura, minus the looks (arguably) in the same fashion as the F12 beats the Aventador today.
The Countach was a serious design masterpiece for its time, but it did not offer anything groundbreaking apart from its looks.
I believe the biggest issue when comparing the two is forgetting that Ferrari always has few lines of production that ran parallel, while Lamborghini only made one.
And if you look at Ferraris record, to this day they run their production the exact same way. They introduce a model, two years down the line they introduce an improved version and in another 2 a new model. Lamborghini or not. While VW with all their might can not move on from the Gallardo, which already has more versions than I care to remember. And somehow they get uglier every time.

Lamborghini actually had multiple lines of production.

1960s - Lamborghini Islero, Miura, Espada were all produced at one time.

1980s The Lamborghini Countach, Jalpa and LM002 were all produced at one time.

And during the mid- late 1970s Lamborghini produced the Countach, Espada, Jarama, Urraco and the Silhouette.

The Miura is a nice looking car - but that's it - there is no advantage because of the mid-engine design! It's actually a disadvantage! The engine of the Daytona or BB is way better ... the rest also.

Has there ever been a sexier four place production car than the Espada?

And they always kept building tractors.

Even when what they wanted was a car.

Since we are talking about the F70 and comparing Lambo to Ferrari overall, my point was that altho what you are saying is true, it was just for a relatively short period of the company's history.
I am still kind of baffled that with all the VAG might behind Lamborghini, their latest super car is beaten by Ferrari's front engined GT.

Sadly Lambo seems to have become cannon fodder for VAG's real super car the Audi LMP1's that have dominated Le Mans for almost a decade. The real VAG hypercar will be based on that adventure and is tentatively called the Audi R20. I really look forward to that one. Once they solve the riddle of a street gearbox capable of taking the 800 ft/lb of torque their engines can produce the games will begin. A few years ago I worked with their designer on an Audi LMP1 hommage but a road gearbox was then still a few years away.

Jim, do you not believe that the 918 Spyder is the present day VAG flagship hybrid supercar capable of competing with the F70 like the Carrera GT did with the Enzo back in 03?

While it is apples and oranges, another VAG Hypercar - the Bug. Veyron SS, a new version of which is being prepped with astounding performance numbers, according to various sources, also should be thrown into the mix of cars that compete with the F70, perhaps?

    What?, sales figures?

There was no competing performance wise ... unless you consider a few er, magazine articles.

9 out of 10 times the opposite number Ferrari was better than the Lamborghini it competed with.

VW, for all its production car might has no clue about supercars. That's why they bought Lamborghini in the first place. Anyway, Ferrari has the greatest research lab in the world... Formula 1!!!
