The FoW Employee "Alumni" Thread

    In the course of FoW's change of ownership, a lot of really good people have moved on. I thought it might be nice to have a thread that tells where one can find them, should one want to continue to do business with them, or just keep in touch. I don't know where everyone is, so please help, my list omits a lot of people. Please also help by correcting any errors. In no particular order:

    Ralph Cestero, FoW sales - American Service Center (Mercedes) in Arlington
    Augie Borges, sales - BMW of Sterling
    Mike Maurer, sales - Porsche Annapolis
    Josh Simpson, service advisor - Don Beyer Volvo
    Peter Brandt, parts manager - Stohlman (which one?)
    Sean Hahn, tech - Don Beyer Volvo
    Dan McGowan, tech - Don Beyer Volvo

    I suppose the thread could cover all "old FoW" alums - that would include people like Richard Capoccia and Fernando Torres, who as probably everyone who reads this knows, now run their own superb shop, Competizione & Sports Cars. And, if we're going back a few years, we shouldn't forget Jim Coffey, RIP.

    Jim was a gruff but very accomodating person. Gave me my first drive in a 328... it was cool!

    Hey Will,

    Did you also consider starting an FoW "customer" alumni thread ? Would love to know where the old gang, or band of brothers, if you will, that used to get together on Saturday mornings out there to gawk, chat and munch are now gathering. It was a great bunch of real car guys and genuinely nice people. And I think they used to even spend money out there, too !

    Willie Mack - Service writer - Pohanka Acura
    Fernando - Competizione and Sports Cars
    Richard - Competizione and Sports Cars

    Peter Brandt went to Stohlman in Tysons where he worked many years ago. It is the one with Volkswagen and Mitsubishi. He used to do Mitsu so I assume that is where he is now. Its very hard to imagine him gone from FOW Peter taught me everything about the parts biz!!

    My apologies to Mike and Willie for not listng them initially! Knew Mike had landed in a great spot, glad to hear Willie is safe and sound as well.

    Hey, let's not forget Chris Rice, former FoW parts guy, and a great guy. He is now at Land Rover Chantilly and is a big help keeping my tall vehicle in pristine running condition.

    Joe is a class act, missed him very much when he left FoW.

    I sure hope they bring back Redding Finney; it would be one of their smartest moves.

    WCH, thanks for starting this thread. Great idea!

    Last I heard, Redding is working independently as a sub-contracted "Grant Writer" - - someone who writes justifications for foundations, scientific and academic organizations to receive grants from the government or "angel investors/charitable-givers" in hopes of getting "free money." Redding has a degree in journalism and has done similar work before. Too bad we didn't see him at the Spring Thaw. He is missed by all.

    Lenny Peake was a Jag guy before coming to FoW. When he left FoW it was for a move to SoCal, but then he returned. Last I heard, however (about a year or so ago??), he was back in SoCal, and was named one of FNA's top technicians. Saw his picture "on the cover of the Rolling Stone..." ( ;) ), err, make that, in a full page Forza magazine ad for the dealership he's at (might even be one of the one's owned by the new FoW owners....). I can probably find the issue/ad if someone really needs to know....

    There are huge bucks in grant writing. Wish Redding the best, he was ALWAYS gracious to me and my family.

    Last time I talked to Lenny he was working for Ferrari of Long Island. Always has been a great guy to talk to and get advice from. Of course that was last July or August, so he might be somewhere else by now knowing how much he moves around ;)

    As of my last (final) visit to the dealership a few weeks back, George was one of the few familiar faces still on staff. Redding is doing some independent writing work and Brian McK. was still looking for a new gig.

    I'm gonna miss that place. I hope they keep up with the track events. As a non-owner, it was a great opportunity to get out and shoot photos of some amazing vehicles.
