the end: the comeback journey from Maranello, today, two hours ago Please don't do it at home... https://youtu.be/7rZTAGcZ-ds ciao
NOW the car is ready: I finally installed the Glidden Salchi paint sticker! And put in the trunk of of the just 15 early model Schedoni sets ever produced: that's the same as the famous "gift" one. Now I can go to the "Concorso di Eleganza" next saturday: I'm wondering if the judges know what that precious set is and if maybe it would be better to put in the trunk the "usual" well known luggage set. What's your opinion about that? ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
At your level of restoration, judging will be a two-way street. If you are silent and expect the judges to notice, you will be disappointed. However, if you politely include a description of the luggage set in your initial presentation of what is unusual about the car, they will very much appreciate it. … although they will still invent something to give you a deduction; 100 point perfection is not allowed!
Thanks! I tried and already sent the explanation of what it is, but I'm confident that they will lose it before seeing the car in person… ciao
Stelle sul Liston Elegance contest, Padova, Italy, October 13, 2018. Three blue cars aside. Left: Tonino Lamborghini personal Espada. Mid: my last but one drysump. Right: a Jaguar XJ220 owned by a friend of the former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, Mike: it was a judgement show. But my category was won by the XJ220 (a more important car, yes, but I consider my one more elegant than that): judges award which they want… ciao http://m.gazzettadimodena.gelocal.it/video/motori/stelle-sul-liston-l-eleganza-delle-auto-in-gara-a-padova/104238/104844
Do you mean that I'm not a friend of the former Italian Prime Minister? (but I have to say that the XJ 220 displayed was a perfect condtions car) You can see also the personal Tonino Lamborghini Espada and the best in show, a Delahaye from 1938, perfectly restored. ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It is quite interesting how the Jag recovered the love from the mass these years I would not consider it more important than your 308 though Thanks for the shots! Ciao Julio
Thanks, Mike. If it had been a point concourse maybe I would have won the best in show, but it wasn't: here judges have others criteria. They dedice to give an award to the car they like more using criteria like the car importance, value and so on, not only if it's perfect. ciao
resurrecting this thread: did 308 GTB 34503 appear anywhere? My 308 GTB drysump 34465 is the last but one ever produced, but Ferrari claims there is another, 34503, the last 308 GTB produced: where is it? I got my car eight years ago, in 2014: how is it possible that nobody still knows where 34503 is? Does this car exhist? Is it a drysump or a wetsump? Yes, you are right : I would be very happy to learn that my one is the last dry sump exhisting on Earth as 34503 was kidnapped by the aliens,.. Seriously: any new about 34503? Thank you! Ciao
It's time to do an engine major service at Toni Auto in Maranello, after 8 years: new belts and tensioners, new water pump, carbs cleaning, carbs tuning, fuel tank cleaning and so on. Ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login
How well did the engine paint hold up over the years? Are you still pleased with the process? Mine was painted in 2011 during a rebuild. It's showing signs of wear after 20,000 miles. Image Unavailable, Please Login
