i dont think that would be right, the MPC is only a couple of weeks from being finished, and there are only maybe 50 or so vip cars first as well as dealers cars,so customer cars will be well in the first 100

This, if it's set in stone, will set the McLaren apart from other supercars (ie 458) in terms of their technology.

Also, when you tested the car at Dunsfold, was it equipped with ceramic brakes? How's the feel?

i used 2 cars, one was the silver blue that steve sutcliffe brought back from portugal which had ceramics, and a black one with cast iron rotors which were well worn with the holes already well fillled with pad, both cars had been thrashed already for 2 days around the track virtually none stop by customers and racing drivers giving fast laps, the feel on both cars was still great with no fade at all,At the time chris goodwin attributated this to the amount of time they had spent on getting the cooling right,Ive got ceramics on my current car and they are no way as good as the iron rotors on the 12c,I know thats hard to believe but im glad i didnt get ceramics ,i woundnt get the use even on the trackdays, they look better and keep your wheels clean anything else would be vanity for me

Pretty sure the delay has more to do with Japan than the MPC. It was ahead of schedule by 6 weeks back in October, so I'd be surprised if it didn't come in on time... Still haven't heard if U.S./N.A. cars are getting delayed or not...

Curious - at this point does anyone think they've heard the sports exhaust?

So far - it doesn't seem there are a lot of pics of colors other than the two oranges, black, and silver. However - McLaren Beverly Hills have a photobucket account where there are a lot (including some shots of the Racing Green - though the car isn't complete)...

    (hope this links you...)

yes, you're right. many parts are being delayed due to the tsunami. This has hampered the production rate...

I ve heard both (cant say how :) and the sports sounds better at least from the outside. More metalic sound, more aggressive, not at all abnoxious. For people who are more inclined towards italian cars (or GT porsches) this is the best choice. For the rest the normal exhaust is good enough on sport mode.

I have spec the sports exhaust for my MP4-12C. My 458 is very quiet below 3,000 rpm is it the same with the sports exhaust. I hope not.

the standard exhaust has no valves, whereas the sports has them for drive past legistation, that is why the sports is only 1 kilo lighter than the standard,so below 3,000 the sports will be quiet, that is unless you find the fuse that operates them?

There will be a communicay shortly, its not a big problem, just the supply of a certain part, they are still building the cars for the part to be fitted before delivery,
If you look on MCLAREN LIFE zippycar knows which part!
for the first customers i think a delay of 6-8 weeks,i dont think this would delay cars much later on in the year as you will see its not stopping production,
when i get the exact facts i will post them, but i know they are working round the clock to
keep the delay as short as possible

Someone on McLaren Life is also quoting a dealer who says the 12C on Corsas posted the fastest time around the Top Gear track.

didn't McLaren use the TG test track as their own test track?

if so, I'd say that's a bit of a ringer, then....

But the Stig still has to put the time down, not McLaren.

You're right. The Stig has very little track time there. :)

I know, somewhere deep down inside, you have a sense of humor. :)

BTW: Are you going to get one of these? I'm being serious here and not making a joke. I think it would be awesome if you did. I mean that.

I still want to drive one when they get one at a rental track in Vegas.
