Carlos Hank Rohn is still alive. I saw and talked to him at Pebble Beach in 2004, and would have heard had he died since. He (and his son) are the ones who own Ferraris. You may be thinking of his father, Carlos Hank Gonzalez, a politician and one of the founders of the PRI. I believe he died a few years ago. He had no interest in Ferraris. O.G.
Yeah, thought as much. There were some special cars that have graced Australian shores in times gone by, machinery like C-Types, D-Types, XKSS, etc. From what I understand, more often than not, cars of this quality have often been connected to Laurie O'Neill, and David McKay/Scuderia Veloce.
I have a few more pics here, can anyone identify the S/N's of these please? Red one seen at Spa earlier this year. Silver at Concorso Italiano in Texas (I think), also this year. Black one I'm not sure about. Thanks. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
5571 GT is not owned by Bruce McCaw but by his brother John McCaw and registered in the name of Cavallino Holdings in Oregon. Marcel Massini
So that only leaves the silver one to be identified.... Thanks, now I remember reading about that one in Forza #17. It must be 4757GT then, thanks. Interesting info....thanks.
So does that make Tony Wang (3769GT, 4713GT), Yoshiho Matsuda (3445GT, 4675GT) and Anthony Bamford (3767GT, 4399GT) as the only guys who own 2 GTO's?
At Goodwood there were some real ones..................and this one........;-) Paul M Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi, do you have the 250 GTO book by Bluemel and Pourret? If not, I highly recommend it. It has ownership and race histories on each individual car and will answer most of your questions even though it's a few years old by now. Ciao, Peter
Matsuda's 3445 GT is LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG gone. Sold to Charles Arnott, re-sold this year to another collector. Marcel Massini
I'm glad everyone is so interetsed in everyone else's GTO's, but can ANYONE answer the question and give an overview of what to look for when buying a GTO replica? I'm curious myself. Ken
Ken, just talk to our very own Chelle. She knows anything there is to know about GTO replicars. She is THE expert: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51297 In general I'd say there isn't too much of a choice. Most cars are based on the Datsun. There are some obvious differences in the engine power (the newer the car in general the better) and obviously stick shift is preferred. Most replicas are riddled with errors in regards to the original car. So I'd buy the best (closest to the original) I could find and then take it from there. Most Datsun replicas are also too short in the front and need to be elongated. Chelle figured out a way to do that relatively easy, ask her for details. Also most replicas have the wrong rear (Datsun hatchback instead to trunk), the fuel filler on the wrong side (Datsun has it on the right, GTO on the left) and the Datsun dash (all wrong).
No I don't, but I might buy it soon. However with all the knowledge of these guys on F-Chat there might be no need. Do you know the name/location of this collector?
