Thanks Frank! We need to talk about your decision between a TR & 512BBi. I've been given some very good advise from others regarding these cars & will be happy to pass it along. Dave
Dave - I AM SO FRIGGIN' JEALOUS! GREAT FOR YOU! and those of us Chicago F-chatters that can live vicariously through you. The BB512i is/hopefully will be Ferrari #2 in the garage. Are you going to bring it on August 1st??
Thanks,Dave. I can't wait. I have always loved those 512 BB (BBi) Cars. Especially,the way they open up. If that doesn't look like a real race Car,I don't know what else does! Also,need to check out Fit for my Large frame.... We need to get you a copy of Sammy Hagar's "I can't drive 55" song/video. Where he's driving his own Black Boxer in the Video. Very Cool indeed!
Hi Mike, and Thanks ! No, it won't be here in time for the August 1st drive. The Monterey event is consuming many of the east coast transporters. So, the car won't leave New York until Monday. I have asked them to see if they can expedite, but with no luck. I'll just have to sweat it out. Dave
Frank, I have the song on CD...but it would be really cool if I can find the video. From what I understand, his personal BBI was used. Was it black? Dave
Why yes indeed, it was Sammy's Black/Tan 512BBi that he drove in the ""I Can't Drive 55" Video. So buckle up and turn up the volume all you Sammy Hagar fans. Here's a link for a free Pop Up video. (Use the "Cable DSL" selection. It will still work on dial up, but has interuptions.) http://www.redrocker.com/video/videopage_solo.html See the note at the end of the video that says he burned the clutch out while filming this. Dave
Dave,it's even the same color combo as yours. Maybe some creative person can dub you in the Video....?... I like Andreas' suggestion for License Plate. Or,maybe: CNT DR 55 I DRV 55 (so the Cops don't bug you... ) BLK BBI BLK 512 512 BBI BBI 512 Check 'em out!
Billiam- Cut it out with the coloured and bold fonts! I know you just learned how to do it today........ SHOW OFF!!!! P.S. On Illinois tags, numbers have to come after letters.;
Obviously it's Dave's choice, but I was never a fan of stating the obvious like pointing out that it is a Ferrari. But I do like CNT DR 55 That's better than my CNTDO55. And Bill's GO FASTA is kewl too. With CNT DR 55 you could even check the little box that says next number available. So you might get the plate but it might say CNT DR 62 or whatever. Dave, maybe you ought to setup a little competition for the best suggestion. PS: I'm all set for my own 2nd car btw.
You sure about that? I haven't seen a single statement to that fact in any of the State's papers. And furthermore in the Antique plates application form they give an example: "123ABC"
The current plate on my BB512i is "BBI". I have been approved for "82 Boxer", but can't pick it up until I get my emissions done.
That's the way its always been. Just take a look and see if you see any permanent IL plates with numbers before the letters.
Yes,I agree with Skip. I have a couple Vanity Plate Applications here,and the Letters have to go b4 the Numbers....So,the suggestion that I made earlier...512 BBI won't work... But,BBI 512 will....
When I got my Maserati I toyed briefly with the idea of pursuing the vanity plate DOES 185, in reference to Joe Walsh's "Life's Been Good", but aside from the fact that no Maserati road car ever has actually done 185, and my Biturbo won't even get close, it seemed to me that that would just have been a shorter version of TICKET ME. In another thread somewhere I saw that a particularly ballsy individual had put BY BY COP on his car.
I think if you toss a Maser out of an airplane it will do 185 MPH. Somehow I like that idea...As seen in one the latest Bond movies (355 and Lambo flying). The By by cop is on a F40, which was recently at Mike E.'s party. Yup, that takes gutts. I'm amazed the even printed that one.
The car was picked up this morning by the transporter and left the Greenwich/Port Chester, NY area. My car was the last on and will be the first off. The driver called me via cell phone this morning while he was driving to let me know all was going well. I made the conversation short so he could concentrate on the road. It would be a heck of a thing hearing metal crunching over the cell phone while he's driving... Oh the horror ! His Chicago ETA will be tomorrow afternoon/evening. It's going to be a long day for me tomorrow. Dave
Dave- Don't worry about anything. Just keep your mind on work tomorrow, as that's where you'll be; we don't want you losing your job. I've spoken with the transporter, and the car will be delivered to me. I'm planning on taking it on a jaunt to Kalifornia, just to sort out any problems before the warranty expires. You can thank me when I return.............. Skip
Delivery will be one of the best and worst moments in your life: You'll be so happy to finally see "her" and at the same time you're scared xxxxless that the driver drops her off the platform. But in the end all will be fine. The pic is actually not the delivery of mine, but the pickup out in Boston. But the fear moment is the same.
