The XBOX PGR 2 thread

I'm getting really tired of the silly wheel I have right now, which lacks any form of precision.

 

Are you sure it is compatible? I know the European games are not.

 

Good question and I guess there is only one way to find out...

Euro games are probably not compatible because they're made for PAL TV as opposed to US NTSC. However a steering wheel just talks to the USB port, so I don't think there should be a difference.

Speaking of: All you guys who brag about your Nuerburgring times, did you actually use wheel and pedals? Playing videogames through hand held controllers is normally easier as they are more precise than a "loose" wheel and one has better control in the fingers than in the feet, but as a die hard simmer I consider this cheating.


PS: Finally found some Ferraris in the game, things are paying off.

 

I don't know why but when I reach the American muscle section I become quite bored mainly because it's so long and I finished the game twice, I'm doing my third round now. Does anyone have xbox live?

 

Well to each his own I suppose: I finally reached the American muscle section and I'm thrilled beyond belief to race in my hometown, which btw is very accurately modeled.

I was bored to tears in the Pacific section. Couldn't care less about Hong Kong and Yokohama. The last few street races in Hong Kong I drove like a robot, just to get it over with and move on.

tifosi DON'T ruin yourself by buying the Thrustmaster! You say you're a hardcore sim racer, I assume you have a nice one for your PC then? There is a new FF wheel that is coming to Xbox at the release of Forza, and it will be well worth the wait. Just like the Driving Force Pro was. I really badly want a DFP...

 

My best round the Ring is a 6:17(speed12), but I know I could do faster if I could run the whole thing perfect haha

Any of you guys on Live? look for LotusJeremy. Also if you are on live I highly reccomend the booster packs......gotta love the 288gto, 612, m3 csl, c6 vette, 911 gt2(996), radical turbo, and speed 12(there are other cars too).

 

Yes I have a nice one for the PC, which is why I want an equally nice one for the XBox. A friend from Germany is now getting me the Thrustmaster 360 Modena Force Feedback wheel. Won't cost the world. But I'll keep an eye out for the one you mention anyway. My collection of old wheels at home is legendary...

 

I dont have Xbox Live, but my friend does and i go over there alot to play halo and pgr2. some of the people are dirty racers, so i just be dirty back. heh heh.

Its really fun though. Mini's on Nurburgring I won a race by 13 seconds with em. I dont know if thats good or not, but it was alot of fun.

 

Yeah Live is fun.......I seem to play people from Europe mostly?? don't know why maybe it is the time I get on.

Go play last man it is too fun. We had 8 guys racing, so you all start out in a slow car(rx8 for example) and who ever finishes last gets a fast car (speed12/enzo/gt1) and their job is to wreck whoever is in first place. Keep doing it till you have a winner...... Last time we did this I was kicking everyones but until all 6 other speed12's ganged up on me in the last turn letting the other guy win even though they hadn't caught me till then hahaha

 

Man i'm planning to get live by new year maybe we can play to see whos the best what do you guy's think?

For those who played the Ring in PGR2 which version of the ring is it - the 60s version with no guard rails (like in Grand Prix Legends) or the latest version with the GP circuit added?

 

Given 6 minutes lap time in an Enzo it has to be the old Nordschleife, don't you think?

I'm still a few levels away from this, but at least I had the pleasure of zooming by Micheangelo's David and past the Offici in an open 360. Bella Italia!

 

You guys shouldn't feel embarrassed playing video games because your 30ish....I'm a 62 year old retired college prof. who has just started playing Xbox games (retirement gift). If I get this game what do I ask for PGR2? Is that an abbreviation and will they know what I'm talking about?

I've heard Burnout 3 is awesome too, as is the $20 NFL 2k5.

 

Actually that 6 min laptime confused the hell out of me - I mean the real Carrera GT recorded a 7 min 32 sec lap time or so around the ring and the fastest ever lap time was 6'41" in a Porsche 956. So how a Enzo would beat a 956 and be a minute quicker than the CGT, beats me!

unless of course the car was modified or the track was slightly shorter or something...

 

You gotta remember those were real cars where the person did not want to wreck the thing. to get down to a 6:17(my best so far) you use all the track! even jumping the grass if the rumble strips are high enough. I'm sure there is no way in hell I'd run a sub 7 time in real life even with the speed12.

From what I've heard the fastest car on street tires to lap the ring is the radical turbo.

Not sure if I've said this already but whats the highest score you've got on geomontry wars (sorry if I misspelled it) it is located in the garage area against the wall behinde the counter, you press 'A' to access it. Mne is 23,060.
