When it comes to customers, I'm very much from the old school, which says: "The customer is always right." All I can say is this line of thinking has served me well for the last 30+ years.
I agree with that sentiment. Strange how most of the Airline's don't understand that, except perhaps SouthWest. RyanAire is an interssting exception. The really don;t care about their customers. But they have found a successful market niche serving those that don't care about abuse as long as they can fry for the UK to Greece for $29. So maybe New Coke (New Ferrari Chat) is looking at a bigger picture. Ferrari owners and wanna-owns, are not the target market. Hyundi and Kia owners are the future, since anyone who owns one has no self respect.
Well, ultimately, it's your decision what to do not mine. However, as near as I could tell, nobody was complaining about anything were they? I use Ferrarichat on both the computer and iPad and never had any issues. Everything seemed to work just great. Sure it was looking a bit dated looking, but personally I felt that was some of the charm. I switched to the "classic look" but still miss the old format. Ray
the site seems to look ok via the iPad; maybe it's more an issue when viewed on the larger screen of the computer
on the iPad, I think the site actually looks and performs better. So I'm gonna have to take back part of what I said, Rob. On the browsers on the computer, not so sure - but I'll check that again later when I'm in the office. I guess it just takes some getting used to. Changing to the old format definitely helps, so I hope you'll leave that as an on-going option. Ray
Well... some of us are experts. Many of us have built successful companies which entailed copious amounts of IT. I get the issue about security from outdated stuff, however. One only has to look at the security breaches from the last couple of years to know. I may be wrong, but you were running on a third party a BBS service and did not actually have control over the software directly on your own equipment did you? It's always tempting to outsource, but that is something I never did. You buy someone else's package and you are their butt monkey for life.
^Disclaimer: Texan^ Lulz If I may, it is ironic to have so many complaints regarding "old" software somehow being better in the subforum with "new" Ferraris. Why go quicker than old versions of Ferrari? To put "old" software into context: IIRC . . . The "old" site went Live less than a week after (now unsupported) Windows XP was released. Why would the site continue using (long ago unsupported) vB software instead of moving forward, just as one would with upgraded software from Apple, Android, Linux, Windows, let alone myriad versions or types of vendor software & hardware?
If you have a complaint, please provide a solution at the same time. I am sure for most of us in where we are in career, this is what we want to hear, right.
A BIG Deal The new classic Fchat has lost it's wide white space on the right hand side of the page now? The screen spans the page from east to west totally! Was it something I did or is that an adjustment made elsewhere?
At least no one has suggested a connection between Rob and the dog that sucks. Doin' what I can to keep the mood light!!! D
Can someone tell me how to PM anyone ? I used to just click on their profile but I cant find it now, what am I doing wrong?
I agree with you and others who think the new format sucks. There's not one thing about it that I like. And as usual, things are getting more complicated, not less. I am likely to use the site less now. As someone else said, it's just difficult to read visually. It's a highly annoying interface. I would pay $50 per year to have the old format back as long as there is a guarantee it will never be changed.
Image Unavailable, Please Login See how the writing is over the date. Is it like this or just my computer ? This is what I hate as it makes me cock eyed
Agree that this new format is silly. It seems to be the general consensus that the readership here really doesn't like it. Everyone I've talked to hates it. What was the issue with the old format? Maybe not enough ad revenue? If it stays like this many will not renew subscription. Hope the powers that be are listening.
The scalpels, forceps, etc. were rusted. As you know, Doctor, Surgical advances replace old methods. Administrators are doing everything they can for the Patient during this Hysteriaectomy, so the Patient will live long and um, prosper.
Maybe I've been lucky as I haven't had much chance to be on Fchat the last few days. I am viewing on a laptop in the new "old" format and all seems fine to me. Maybe lots of bugs have been fixed so I have been spared any grief. Sure there are a few new things to learn. I would personally prefer to be able to have the latest post at the top but as I use other forums that don't allow that I can live with it. No doubt there is a facility to go to latest post, I just haven't properly looked for it yet. I entirely understand Rob wanting to move away from unsupported software. The brief moment I was on the "New" look I didn't like it. But that's a matter of taste. and no-one is forcing you to use that version. I am sure that in a few weeks time we'll all have forgotten how the old site was and we'll have learned to enjoy the new features.
Jack and I just updated and prioritized the bugs & development list. We are getting there, 26 line items fixed or answered. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/running-bug-list.560062/
are you still seeing this? what device are you using? Old format was no longer supported, meaning that it had to be changed eventually. Rather now than when it starts to break down, have issues, and becomes security risk. New site prepares us for future and allows us to change things and develop new features for everyone. It's not that hard to comprehend.
