    Find a local machine shop that will copy it, and make a few extras, then return it to the mechanic.

    Leaving tools behind is not a big deal in my mind. Certainly not a good thing. But with that said, sometimes the mechanic is so focused on the job that a tool can go MIA--- especially if it falls into a "dark place" without the mechanic knowing. Not making excuses, just sayin'...

    I have a peg board tool board in my shop that has place for all the essential tools. If there's an empty space; I'm looking until I find it. I hate to lose tools.
