this could be part of the reason to me that I asked about the correct bushing spacers , and why to me the arms look out of line. Ie caster

I believe they replace the "dogbones" with Heim joints when thicker roll bars are used when tracking ,to not preload the suspension

Not sure... I'll have to check the caster Monday, but in the picture it looks
like positive caster..and that would raise the tie rod away from the
    dog bone.

The pictures of the a arms on a blanket were after we welded the
bushings in... Do you see anything that looks wrong?

ok...…. from my notes. the thick spacers for the bushings go on the straight side of the upper arm and all the rest of the spacers are the same size

I could pm U my email but you just gotta look to see if the bushing spacers are in the correct location. And like I said I don't know what model you have, it looks like a early 308, so it should be similar to the GT4

ok so now back to my early early question, in your newest pics prior to removal of components, the pics show the radiused dip of the upper ball joints pointing outward, but your restored pics show a straight edge facing outward. might as well check

best I can do is try and relive the details I remember when I did my fronts last March. It may lead to nowhere but we gotta check. geometry is geometry, it works how it wants to, not how our minds want it to

The old and new ball joints look pretty different... What are you referring to that makes
    it look reversed?

This may sound like a stupid question but it doesn't look like you've solved it yet so here goes......is the swaybar centered between the two sides? There's really nothing to center is there, it can slide back and forth in the rubber mounts. If you have a lot of clearance on the other side sliding the bar a bit to that side would move it inboard and clear of the tire rod nut.

that's also a possibility. but if you look at the scratches on the top of the drop links, it looks like a long way to go

I went to to dig out my original old ball joints, and by eye it looks like the bolt portion tilts more inboard when the dipped portion faces outward, but im a couple of coors in. but something keeps bugging me, im no pro mechanic but its something to compare to. can anyone else check the orientation of theyre upper joints?

the curved dip facing outward in your pics before you stripped everything off the car
[IMG]is this the way you put the new ones on? with the dipped portion outward? I cant see from your pics, its blurry when I zoom in, but they look like the opposite side is facing outward on your restored pics
