I lean more toward no (on a modern). If they are fitted they would have to be indented for me, not just stuck on the surface. For an older period car they look more in keeping as very thin, even painted on).

Personally I prefer the look with shields. To me, the car looks naked without them.

If my car didn't already have them I would have added them for sure.

However, this is definitely a personal choice, and there is no such thing as right or wrong.

It all comes down to personal preference. It's not like someone is going to call you out for the shields not being recessed. 99.99% of the population doesn't know the difference.

My TDF Blue was badged by a prior owner; although they are not recessed, I think the offer a nice contrast in color - going to keep them for now.

The quality of Yoshi shields are just incredible - except the fit. They really only stick out 1/16. Only concours judges will know they are not OEM.

Or anyone who looks closely and knows Ferraris. Pretty easy to tell if a fender has been recessed or not.

Still, if it floats your boat, go for it.

I love the Ferrari logo....Enzo got the idea for it from looking at a logo on the side of his friend's plane. I love my car. I love my shields.

If I took them off it would seem look a face missing a nose to me, though the car looks great with or without. I really like the way they enhance the car.

To sum it up in a statement, shields are another way of saying: "Go team! Undisputed champs!"

Exactly! Looks like some cheap stick-on popping off the fender which is why it was a $1700 option to have them recessed so they did not look like that.

Even though my car doesn't have them I like the shields. However I wont put them on cause I'm a purist.

Not a fan of shields at all. Just my opinion, but to me when I see shields on a Ferrari (especially aftermarket shields) it just wreaks of insecurity. Almost as if to say your Ferrari isnt "Ferrari" enough and must be compensated for so people know what I'm driving.

The fenders in my GTC4 Lusso are not recessed and I want the shields. I was wondering how your TDF looked at that time. People recommended me not badging it but would like to see hw it looked.

Now that we’ve brought this back from the dead, who makes thin (to make up for the fact they weren’t going on recessed fenders) high quality after-market shields now that Yoshi shields are not available?

There were 2 version of Yoshi shields if I recall correctly. The later version was noticeably more orange. Earlier version was more yellow and a better match to the front emblem and period correct wheel caps. I have the early version on my black car :). I must’ve purchased a decade ago. Now need something for my red car.

Hows that for a thread resurrection :D
I am always reading from the camp of shield haters that aftermarket ones never look right for one reason or another. Either that the wings are not recessed and or they stick out ect ect. How the factory units look perfect compared to aftermarket ones.
Some have even said they shout desperation.
So I will just leave these factory pictures here of the FFX. ;)
Who put them wonky and sticking out shields on this flagship ferrari?

Well said. I feel that shields are one of those personal touches that is the owners choice. When I was looking for my car it was on the list, but if I had found a nicer example without the shields then I guess I would not have them. Kinda like a vanity plate, its not mandatory but most want one.

I hadn't seen that before; that shield looks tacked on as an afterthought. Doesn't even look like it sits flush. I'm surprised they affixed them like that, on that car, with no thought to fairing them in.

The shield on that car would have looked better in the space above "no step".
