we are talking sales prices here. You might ask yourself why there are 248 360's for sale on autotrader. And have been for awhile. because they are not selling at those asking prices. period. as we move into recession, many of those 248 will have to sell. Not just advertise for sale.

I'm very aware that arguing on the Internet is like pissing into the wind. You just get wet and smell bad. All I was asking you was to back up what you said with credible information.

You see, this is how you do it.

But while we are here, let's take a look at a silver 99 F360 F1 for $109k. This is an almost ten-year old car that probably sold for $145k. Let's say that Sport Auto ends up selling this car for $100k. This means that this car still has a 70% residual value, which is unbelievable for a 9 year old car.

If you are correct, this car is going to fall to $60k. (You didn't say when, but let's say in the next few years.)

Well for this car to fall to $60k, 1999 F355 F1 coupes will have to fall to at least, what?, $50k? And if you are thinking that F360s are going to trade for less than F355s, all I can say is don't bogart that joint my friend cause it must be real good stuff.

It's all very interesting, I had a 246GT and too bad I HAD to sell it, but once I got back on my feet, I did the 308GTBi thing, and even now with more money to spend, I won't go up to a more modern car, here's why: any modern car has the latest electronics............until something more modern comes along, and that's every few years! Even parts for these hi-tech systems are almost obsolete as the newer ones work better, are simpler, and cheaper! (360/430) A friend had a gorgeous BMW850i, electronic glitches put it out of working order, he can't find parts for the (what was then) hi-tech electronic stuff, not even BMW has those old parts anymore! As for looks alone, I still think the 308s have it down right, even after all these years, and it really is the updated 246! (246 is still stunning but high priced, as it should be) More money just means less worries about enjoying a 308, I CAN afford to keep it in top shape! Just my musings, Ciao! Dennis (Okay if I could afford a 288, yes I'd do that!)

It makes me laugh when you guys talk about a 360, and say I would only by a CS. True, but your talking about goint from a 100 to 120K car to a 190 to 200k car. Yeah, its a great car, but is it really in the 360 price range...

Who knows what the 360 will do for value, but EVERYONE please stop saying that you would by a 360 if it were a CS...obviously, the people who say this are not in the market to buy..

I totally agree. The reason I haven't bought a 360 and am leaning towards a 355 is that it is the "poor" mans Ferrari for the day. I am really starting to believe the 355 is a classic that will always be in demand. Just read some of the posts...everyone refers to the 355.

I think your hypothesis will be correct in a few years. But let's hope that the mullet, which goes hand in hand with the camaro, does not become part of the 360 league. :p

It's an F1, with only 9k miles and a fresh (within the last month) 15k service. Yellow isn't plain jane, red is way more plain jane.

Like I said before $103 - $105 will get that car.

Just admit it..... You were wrong :p .

Suck up that pride and admit that the F1 tranny was not standard equipment on 360's, and that it was an OPTION.

360 have been produced in 17.000 cars and 355 in 12.000
so these are the models more produced by Ferrari. their prices
will decrease for a while before to stop in their botton range.
but the quality of 360 is better.
the drive experience it's a personal choice.....so you have to test and create your opinion.
If the future value it's relevant for you my suggestion is to buy a 328 gts...better if you biy 2. in few years you will sell the second and you will have the first for free....
    ciao

    Tiny little market study.

2000 360 modena 6 speed manual, titanium 15K miles, insode and out was squeaky clean, fresh rubber, 5K miles on the clutch, 60 day warranty, bought in January '08 for $107K from Algar. Seller had a new car coming, it was on consignment, and asking price was $120K. I offered $105K, settled at $107,500.

Your results may vary. Pretty much a plain jane bone stock car, just the way I like 'em.

Will prices continue to slide? Yup, do I care? Nope. Buy one, drive one, you'll never regret it. Greatest car I have ever driven/owned from strictly the driver's seat perspective, and what other one counts?

It seems like you believe F1, as an option, would command a premium at resale. Many people on this forum seem to believe there is no additional value of F1 on the used market (as far as older 360s go). Any thoughts on the "value" of F1 on '99 or '00 360s?

I think that the 360, for a decent model, will end up at about 100k for the earlier ones, (coupes) and about 130-140k for the spiders. That assumes now stories, and pristine condition. The 430s will probably end up at about 140 for the earlier ones (coupes) and 180 for the spiders. No matter how many the built, they are still rare, and guess what: Ferrari is importing less 430s this year, I've heard that the importation went from 1600 per year to 1200 per year. That alone, along with the price increases will cause these to hold their value.

360 values may be eroding somewhat; but then all mass production cars depreciate with time. I own a 2003 spider with F1 tranny; and I absolutely love it. It is worth all the money I paid for it and will keep it in my collection for years to come. And the red/tan combo with the modular wheels is just the right look for me. I didn't buy it because it was going to go up in value. I bought it because I loved driving it, and still do.

I haven't formed an opinion as to whether the F1 tranny would (or should) command a premium at resale. Obviously, since the F1 tranny was an OPTION (not standard original equipment), it should be a few bucks more, but that is not always the case. I just happened to stumble upon a '99 360 Modena F1 up for sale at an asking price of $110k, and brought it up as an example (low miles 9k, fresh service, looks in good shape, etc..). Ultimately the market will dictate the proper price range for a 6-speed manual 360 versus a F1 360.

    :)
