Flipping through EBay the other day I saw a 1965 330GT go off at $40,101 and an almost intact 1964 tool kit go off @ $8,101.27....My math is not great but it looks as if any 330 GT owner, having an almost complete bag, can recoup as much as 20-25% of the price of their car by selling the tools, which they had not thought of using anyway because they are there for show points only. It seems to me that the price of authenticity is getting out of hand...and perhaps beyond the pocketbooks of many average 330 Gt owners. Another bubble perhaps like 1989??? Comments.......

I don't really know how complete my 330's toolkit is. I should spend a little time figuring it out, and then keep an eye out for whatever's missing.

Would I sell just the toolkit? I'm not sure.

It does seem that the toolkit if worth more alone than accompanying a car. But then again, it doesn't all come down to dollars and cents. After all, it's far easier to seperate a toolkit from its original car than it would be to reunite the two.

Is there an artificial price bubble on toolkits and other Ferari bits? I doubt it. I believe the internet has made it clear to anyone searching for these items that these pieces are quite rare, and when they do become available, people will spend accordingly.

Good topic for discussion, by the way!

When I got my 330 it had no original tools or toolbag. I have an original toolbag in exclent cond. and figured up that it would take another $2,000.00+ to complete the kit with repro tools from reputable sources.

It's a very low priority item.

I've more or less given up on getting a toolkit for my 365 2+2, although I suppose I'd consider it if the price is right. They've just gotten too ridiculous at this point.

And, Mr. "I sell tools, I make tools"-- where is that Boxer toolkit I've been beseeching you to find?

When I used to import used Ferraris from Roma, the longshoremen would invariably find a way into the trunk to steal the tools. I once suggested to Tom (only half in jest) that he place an ad in whatever publication the old dock workers read! It breaks my heart to think about how many of those old sets are moldering away in some thief's tool box.
