    Hello all,

While sitting having a nice BBQ lunch at the Seneca State Park at the conclusion of the Eurosport DC drive, and congratulating myself on my shady parking spot, I got a moderate amount of tree sap, in barely visible but moderately palpable droplets, on my car.

Anyone have any tips for removal? I seem to remember someone from the Camp Hill or West Chester group having this issue last year somewhere.

I usually use Adams Waterless stuff, Detail Spray, etc. I have a clear bra on the hood, but not roof or rear.

    Thanks.

    Hey Kevin,

First, try a very mild detailing clay. If that doesn't work, test a small section with (don't laugh) Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover on a damp MF towel.

    Good luck

A Citurs based bug & tar remover works excellent. In specific we tend to use the Stoner brand's Xenit spray. It works very will, won't tarnish the glossy finish underneath.

In extreme cases very careful application of nail polish remover can work as well.

Why not use a clay bar and some detailing spray. It is quick, easy and painless. Just make sure you use a new clay bar and turn it frequently.

I have had it all over the car, tiny drips you can feel, had to CLAY it.
    That stuff is amazing.

I think the sap acted as little spots of adhesive and so gathered every speck of road grime, brake dust, and dirt that made contact, creating the myriad black spots.

    It was filthy.

It took some elbow grease, but the tar and big remover combined with microfiber clothes for the metal and a glass scrubby for the glass, did wonders, as you can see.

I applied it in a circular motion, then buffed it off with another clean cloth.

    +1 for Turtle wax.

I agree with Kevin. At Exoticars USA, we use clay bar to remove tree sap and other stains. That's probably one of the best solutions. Good luck!

My medication hasn't kicked in yet....

I looked for clay bar when I went to the store, but, not seeing it, I decided to go for the Turtle Wax stuff. I can highly recommend it.
