Has anyone had any trouble with authorized dealerships or FNA voiding a warranty on a Ferrari because of Tubi products (i.e., Tubi exhaust)...?

    Yes.

Had to sue to get warranty repairs done.

Ferrari was also officially warned by the State of Ca about the illegality of it but it has not changed their policy.

I would rather not but I can be hired to consult if the need arises. I have a good win loss record against FNA.

I responded to the other thread.

If you add "non-factory air" to the tires do you void the tire warranty? ;)

Sorry for the hi-jack... back to the regularly schedulede program....

The factory owned store is a Tubi auth dealer but it does not change FNA policy.

Just be aware they can elect to give you a hard time about it. There is no consistancy about their enforcement of the rule.

At every factory training class I attended we were told of the policy. They have no exceptions...NO MODIFICATIONS.

That extends to wheel, tires, brake kits....you name it.

Wasn't that Enzo you asked me to look at in the shop for getting a Tubi installed? I don't recall.

The case I was involved in was a dealer installed Tubi.

In the end it cost FNA a couple of hundred big ones.

So how come some dealers don't make mention of this when you fork over 6K to have them install a Tubi exhaust...?

Doesn't Ferrari own an interest in Tubi ?

So if NO MODS is the rule I guess an air freshener, iPod, or seat covers could void the warranty.

That may work in Italy but I imagine not so well here :)

Actually... if you have a new-ish BMW, read the sticker on the upper left of your windshield. If you use a cellular telephone inside the car, they can cancel the warranty because it can interfere with the vehicle's electronic systems.

All manufacturers pull this crap. They have to. If they set the bar ridiculously high, it gives them lots of individual reasons to deny claims.

    Gadzooks!!

For most people it is not. Ask for a replacement of a blown up motor and see what they say.

There are some people in business who always have the "Dare You" attitude. Sue me! That's because they believe they are always right!

However, due in part to consumer protection laws, the "Dare You" crowd always ends up paying big time. The problem is, of course, you always have to go after them, and they are counting on most persons just going away.

They think that because they are in New Jersey that you have to go there to sue them. Wrong on two counts! 1) California has what are called Long Arm Statutes. For some that should be Strong Arm Statutes. However, this allows you to sue, in some circumstances, an out of state party locally in our state courts, and 2) the second option is to sue in Federal court, but the matter has to exceed $50,000.00 in value.

The Equal Protection Clause of the US Constitution says in part that you have to treat everyone the same (an abbreviation of course) or "equally".

So, they can't treat the same matter in a different fashion.

As Rifledriver stated, there are times when big $ is paid out by the dare devils, and, of course, that is usually after a very protracted and involved fight.

Moral is that you have rights, and you should never give up. If you are denied what is due you, you have the right to retribution.

So, don't roll over and die because you are told something ridiculous.

The down side is, of course, that every time a judgment is paid by these wonderful people, the dare devils will increase the price of their furure products to cover the cost.

Guess why Ferrari's are partially so expensive.

i know it was just an example, but you put a horrible image in my head of a completely riced out ferrari with air fresheners all over the place, flame seat covers, all kinds of crazy cell phone holders in the shape of racing seats, bumper stickers, and neon lights, oh the horror!!

and im just curious...does anyone know how much a new ferrari engine costs if the dealer were to have to replace it? i remember reading somewhere that a diablo v12 costs $70k alone

I don't think you can void a drivetrain warranty because somebody chops the roof off, but I don't think your post was serious ;)
