Who is a good insurer in the UK for Fcars, I am currently at Privilege and was wondering if it would be wise to shop around as policy up for renewal and new car coming next week as well.

    Your thoughts???

Try LiverpoolVictoria. I'll be changing on renewal as they were £ cheaper than current insurer.

I am also with L&V to give you an idea of the saving,I live in Scotland (low crime area)45 years old max ncb 328GTS 1986 had a restricted 3k policy with heritage last year £524 renewal this year was going to be £570 ish L&V £274 (market value unlimited miles)L&V did not cover roadside recovery/assistance so I bought that from a site on auto trader for £35 total saving £200 ish,but it actualy saved me £400 as I wanted 5k miles and they wanted a further £200 for that,I also asked for a quote for a 355 GTS and that comes in at about £550.
    best regards

I am using privilege too. They seemed to be the best I could find. Having had quotes around and above £2000 I was happy to get £1200 from Privilege. 27, 7000 miles, F355 Spider

    Still happy with that!

I don't have a NCB at all so when I nearly bought a 355 spider two weeks ago, Liverpool Victoria were the only people who could do it for less than £2k (£1,907). This included a new customer discount of 50%

I pay about £670 with Privelege for an 88 328 GTS, unlimited mileage, with a high-ish voluntary excess (£1k) and a full ncb (65% protected). I've always found that Privelege are great on silly cars, crap on more sensible cars like Zoes Fiat Punto.

I plan on checking out LV though - I recently insured my home buildings & contents with them for a great premium and far better cover than anybody previously.

Chubb "Masterpiece" is the best policy around in terms of cover and service but you have to go via a broker. The cars value must also be a minimum of £30k. If you have multiple cars they put them all on the same plan.

I have just gone witht em when I bought the 355 end of last year and i am putting all my cars with them now. Just to clarify I have no benefits on recccomending them. I'm just very very impressed !

I used to use chubb on my Maserati and the cover was excellent, but I eventually switched to AON as they were ove £300 cheaper. Also I have had claims experience with AON on my Austin Healey which I have insured with them for 20 years and the response and service was first class.

There are some good quotes amongst that lot.

Do you think that it will be hard to get insured if I was to keep a Ferrari covered in an allocated parking space or back yard rather than a garage?

I am trying to find a garage to rent near my flat but it's proving difficult. I have no problem leaving it in my parking space but the insurance company might not like that!

some of those quotes make me wish i lived in UK, my 87 DeTomaso Pantera is insured with Carol Nash, the only company doing classic policies here, and it costs me 1800 euro with 2000miles limit, I am 37, clean licence, car must be garaged, 500 euro excess,
I have been posting here as i am looking to buy a bb512 and today Carol Nash told me they will not provide cover for that car, go figure as its an older model. Not sure what to do now!!!!

    Mac,

I think you will be hit with a premium for the Car not to be Garaged, greater chance of being stolen.

I HAVE A QUESTION FOR ALL!! Does your policy underwriters pay out on BOOK VALUE or MARKET VALUE??

This is a bone of contention with me and my broker at present, Im with Norwich Union and the Premium is Large.

But I have unlimited mileage, 400.00 excess, no mileage restrictions...

Can someone compare this policy to there current one, Im thinking of changing as the premium is expensive...

    Joe

My old Beemer M series increased by £2 to park it on my drive instead of the street !!

My current insurance policy requires the car to be garaged between the hours of 10pm and 6am !! (that's if its at home - means I could, but wouldn't, park in the middle of Mosside or something !!)
