Having trouble figuring how to unplug the gas cap switch on my 575M

    seems so simple

i can't operate the gas cap from the switch,, and am starting to trouble- shoot starting with the switch

A simple switch, but it has at least 4 wires on it, the Blk and White , i assume are 12 v power
does anyone have a wiring diagram on this?

    thanks

    Fred

No wiring diagrams are available for the 575 (outside dealer workshops).

Have you tried replacing the fuse or swapping relays?

Possibly two of the wires are simply for switch backlighting (usually black and yellow/red on Ferraris). The other wires will be power from the fuse (maybe a single colour) and perhaps a striped wire for the fuel lid actuator relay.

I'm not really sure. I haven't seen a car of this era with a relay in the circuit. Does the 575 need the ignition switch to be on to open the lid?

What is the problem with the gas cap cover? Do you hear the solenoid when pushing the switch?

I am going to look at the fuse, but i assumed the trunk latch , which works fine, would be on the same fuse
and .. NO . the solenoid doesn't click,, so i am starting with the switch,, will check the fuse, and relay

    thanks. will keep you posted

Good point. I forgot that both were on the same fuse. I don't understand why the trunk latch and fuel lid are on the same relay though. Since the two are unrelated, it must be for power. But why would a relay be required at all unless there was some other interlock (like ignition power or, perhaps, vehicle speed)?

(EDIT) The "frunk" on the Ferrari 360 Spider has an ignition requirement for security reasons. Also, child safety locks on later cars have a speed requirement for full frunk unlocking. But there is a dedicated (separate) relay for that function

Did you try swapping out the trunk release switch for the fuel door release switch? Pretty much identical except for the graphics.

Terry, do you need the ignition to be on for trunk and gas cap operation on the 575M?

It's not mentioned in the 575 Owner's Handbook, but neither is it mentioned in the 550 WSM (and the 550 fuel cap is powered via fuse 4 which needs the ignition to be on).

Thanks, guys.... So the relay must have some other function other than ignition power.

    Speed? Volunteers to open the gas cap/trunk at > 5kph ??? :D

i didn;t check further as i am pondering the purchase of a 250GT for 100 Mil USD. That car has a simple gas cap what i can manage (saw that post on F Life )

however , i did check the voltages at the switch, and i do have 12V, another however, i can;t figure out how to disconnect the plug/ switch in order to try the other trunk latch switch

BTW if you are looking for a another in your stable, look no further than

    https://www.***********.com/threads/selling-a-ferrari-250-gto-series-1-available-only-till-sunday.60152/?utm_source=threadloom&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ed283&utm_content=iss179#post-737519

I am sure you can manage it if you return some of those beer cans kicking around in your garage.
I backed out because it doesn;t have a radio , not sure about the heater
