I seem to remember a purple Daytona coupe for sale in Holland years ago. It was a coupe listed as a 1974 model with a serial number in the 17,000 range.

The car pictured below is chassis number 13607. It was one of the original RHD UK cars, however, I do not know if this is its original color or a repaint. It has been seen in this color since at least 1997.

I agree (although this wouldn't be my colour choice). Yes my Daytona does have a "boring Rosso Corsa respay!" ;)

Ha! Wasn't wishing to be insulting to anyone (as I'm sure you appreciate). Just meant vive la difference! And nice to see a car that has escaped the "all Ferraris must be red" nonsense.

Actually I want to return the Daytona to its original Dino Blue at some point. The paint's too good to change at the moment.

Must say it makes a much different impression than from Daytonafan's photos... much better ;) Would like to see it IRL to decide.

IIRC, purple was Dino's favourite color, which would explain the name "viola dino metallizzato"

I wrestle with the exact same thing. My Daytona was originally Dino Blue which is a fantastic color, my very favorite Ferrari color (I had a 308GTB that color) but the paint on my Daytona is too good to justify a repaint.

10523 (the 206, not pinifarina prototype) wasi/is this color.

it is a color that was available and is in the paint swatch books that show more than just the 8-9 "common" colors

I read that too, but only once, and I don't know where (might even have been here), whereas I heard several times that it was Dino's favourite color. But I can't quote any reliable sources, maybe one of the experts around here can help. Perhaps it was the favourite color of Enzo as well as of Dino ;)

not that this means much, but i have never heard or read anything about enzo or dino's favorite numbers. i would assume the genisis for these conversation would derive from the fact that enzo used "purple" ink. i don't think he used "purple ink, the signature's i have seen are in indelible ink. indelible ink does have a blue-purple color and is used as it can't be removed or destroyed. it isn't so much that is has dissappeared in today's world, but it isn't as common as it was back in the day, especially for legal documents.
