So my new (old) 308 has the Euro bumper conversion. Along the way at some point, the prior owner seems to have lost the front grille. My question: Will a US spec grill fit under there?

The USA grill holes should be in the same spot in the valance.

The USA grill is shorter to clear the tits/teeth that they have on the bottom that Euro bumpers do not.

Do you have the deep or shallow valance on the car?

Euro grills have space for the flash to pass lights , USA grills are longer.

i have seen differences in carb cars and late QV's.

Shopping for a repro Euro grill now. I'd like this to install easily and look good without any modification. Thank you for the information.

IMO the grill should match the bumper.

They are different , so you will have to get a Euro grill, or there has been talk for a LONG time that one of the vendors would make a light weight replica North American bumper.

So that would match a North American grill, also.

In searching through the old posts on this and related topics, I found a gentleman in England who makes these. I emailed him, and he has a repro for $400 plus shipping. I'm shopping around to see if I can find a used original for similar money. If not, I'll go that route. Hopefully it will mount up without much issue.

There is a FerrariChatter that makes Euro grills for around $400.00. i know I posted in his thread as he used my measurements off my blue scuro 308 to make his grills, and I got one of his grills for a great price.

Ill do some looking using "search" and see if I can find his info.

    Just for the record.

your grill is the euro QV grill.

I made and sold well over 15 grill to complete the euro-transformation on the older types. I even offer a solution for those who performed the transformation with the slim line QV bumpers.

Hey Mark, after seeing your car without the grille I was thinking you might even want to consider doing a black grille. I know it wouldn't necessarily be correct or authentic, but your yellow car with the black trim looks pretty cool with that black space up front. Check out that picture you took of my car with your car in the background and you will see what I mean.

It's kind of funny that I would suggest this because I'm such a fan of keeping my car as stock looking as possible...

I hear you, David. I think it would look very slick with a black grille. I'm inclined to go with a more standard appearance though because the car already has a few non-stock bits. If I decide I want it all black, I could always powdercoat or spray the new grill to black. If it's a repro, I don't mind doing that.

Here is one of John Dahl's fine aftermarket grille. The grill is mounted on my 83 QV US model combined with a deep Euro spoiler and Euro bumpers from Rennspeed and Cibie lamps that's set up as driving light. It is very easy to assemble and install the grille and so far I haven't observed any discoloration or other problems after more than one years of driving trial.

    Best regards

John, the maker of these grills, was at my house last weekend. We changed out his shifter shaft seals. I will call him and make him aware that his thread has been revived as I believe he has been too busy of late to visit F-Chat.

'79 GTS. Just another option. I used my US grill, added another long and a new short slat to the top. Made 5 new verticals. Found the slat material at Lowe's, same dimensions.

Hi guys. I'm still here and kicking. Thanks for the kind comments on the grills.

Mark, I PM'd you on the grill. If you want to keep it period specific but go euro, then I think the one you would want is the one similar to the above picture or like what St@ven's got. I helped design one of these for R. Mosley and it turned out really nice. A fellow f-chatter in Australia made it for him. I'll have to look up his name.

your car looks great. Could you please tell me what Cibie's and what brackets you used? Maybe you could post some more detailed pics?

The grille I took off was 4.5" tall by 36.5" wide. Anyone in need?
