Hi, First post so please dont abuse me . I'm after a 355, got around £53k to play with, its now or never, Im 29 and by this time next year my lady wants a kid, fair enough I want a Ferrari. I wondered though within the UK market how much depreciation could I expect over 12 months. Seen a nice 355 on a 96 plate at £45k, its grey though, which is a colour I like, but do you think that would be a big issue on resale ? Cheers
Save some dosh and check this out, I can see this depreciating at all really, I should imagine if it was broke for parts it would'nt be far off £30k! http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=74228
If you buy at £ 45 plus about £ 2 for insurance (see other threads) then maybe a service for a grand or two if you're lucky (if not then you've got your £ 5 contingency fund) then drop it next autumn for £ 35 would be my guess (unless you realise you cannot bear to part with it !) - the darker grey metallic is a fab colour - if you really plan to keep it only a year it may be an idea to get a good warranty with the purchase
Welcome. If you have £53K to play with, then spend around £45K on the car and keep the rest in reserve for servicing, tyres, repairs etc. Go for a red one if your only going to keep it a year, seriously, get a red one. Robert had his grey one up for sale for 6 months or so without a sale, which was really unfortunate, and surprising. but I dont know the specifics.
I'll stand sh@gging if a 355 drops £10k in one year dude unless you are gonna cover loads of miles. If resale is a big consideration buy a red one. Everyone wants a red Ferrari for their first Fcar.
The guy asked for a worst case and from buying at dealer to selling there probably would be that spread over a year - and Ade has a good point about buying red
Hi, Sadly i might be selling my 355 Spider, if you could be interested in a giallo spider (yellow/black) with rear challenge grill please feel free to PM or email me ([email protected]). It's a P plate 97 car, 20k miles, belts done last year, FFSH etc. - wonderful condition i just dont get the chance to drive it Matt
There are some great value 355's on Autotrader at the moment - have a quick browse and you will see what I mean. £45k will buy you a very nice one indeed.
go for 're-sale' red, and if your worried about the drop in value then don't buy a car! cos its all part of it as i've found out. i was scared stiff of buying one, worried like hell the night before i paid for the car, and wondered if i'd made a big mistake, but its all normal!!! but once you've got one all thoughts of costs go away!!!(nearly)
Was offerred a perfect Red/Crema 96P 355 manual GTS (targa) 1 previous owner with 11,256miles on clock and it was a full uk car with full official ferrari dealer for 45k last week and turned it down for the simple reason it's gonna require a belts and clutch very soon, and really would buy a 360 for 60k as it's a better buy and has done all it's depreciation. If you want that car it's Matkat's bosses friend, verty nice chap and obviously looks after it. PM him Paul CUE99T
IWISH You have a PM,Paul maybe You can supply the pics to Him as I am not in the office till next week. Dave
Thanks Paul but could You supply Them to Terry(this is His username) as He is the one who has contacted Me by PM I originally thought it was "IWISH" should read My e-mails a bit more carefully. Terry can You post something to allow Paul to respond to You. Dave
Indeed- my met silver/burgundy car has been up for sale for 9 months now without any joy. Mind you, I can't say I'm trying that hard now that it is back home again! I felt heartbroken a little while back when someone asked to view it, and strangely elated when they cancelled! If you just want it for a short while, then defo go for red. Or dare I say it consider renting one from Bespokes or somesuch whenever you want it. I suspect it may end up cheaper in the long run!
I personally think you ought to be a tad less selfish, and discuss plans/things first with your "lady". They're always right ! cheers, d
