Great pic. Meeting Martyn (photographer) next week to review all the images he took of Dino Competizione and Stratos Prototypo on the weekend and the ones he will release to Octane.
Not too many. It was very early and there were lot's of great cars around. I would like to have seen it out on the road, but besides the short ride from Villa d'Este to Villa Erba I don't believe it's been out, too bad, cause it's a real beauty. We were out driving the Zagato Bentley from 6:30 till 8:00 and Artun was driving his 500 TRC with anger!!! Now that was something else. The sound coming from that engine echoing in the early morning against the hills surrounding lake Como... WOW!!! Another guy brought his 1928 Mercedes 680S Tourer to compete in the concorso AND he brought a rough Mercedes SSK to drive around town...!!!! Saturdaynight driving back to the hotel it appeared in our rearview mirror, we didn't believe the sight of that!!!
Fantastic cars as always, this year! But I especially liked the dark grey ATS, which unfortunately didn't win anything.
We'll be driving her on the 1000 kms of the Historic Giro d Sicila/Historic Targa Florio in a few weeks. If you want to have a go in the Zagato Bentley I'll be happy to accommodate you... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That was a great one as was the Blower Bentley which they drove to the event. If you want to avoid traffic you have to leave very early. Last year we drove P 4/5 from Como to Modena and back to Turin. Modern cars don't mind rush hour but I'm not sure I'd have felt as comfortable in one of my 60ies cars making that run. You crazy man.. ;-) ordered a Zagato Bentley?? The last one? Heard that only 1 was available (on saturday). Would have loved to hear that Dino engine out on the street going through it's gears, but I think only the 500 TRC went out? Heard the sound of it?? The roads were really quiet in the early morning... but I don't know if I would have let such a rare beauty "play" with the obvious fiat Panda driven by one of those furious Italian ladies... The men don't drive too bad, but the ladies, pfffff
As I'm a member of the club that sanctions the Historic Targa I can get you in with any suitable car and that includes some very affordable one's such as MG's/Triumphs/Fiats, etc. The cost for 6 days and nights including all food, luggage transport, and more wine than you can drink is 3K euros for 2 people which isn't too bad. If any one's interested let me know. Best
Thanks! Won't happen this year, but you never know about next year. I'd love to take the 365GT 2+2 over there for a bit.
Jim, That picture is AWESOME!!! That's how streets should be adorned! But I guess if every street had a Dino prototype and a Stratos prototype, then it wouldn't be so special. Thanks for sharing, Manny
"Always dreaming". Seeing the beautiful and highly desirable cars on F-chat keeps us all dreaming, I think. Excited about the day and planning to realise some dreams, too. Enjoy.
