My recollection is that they won all (or most) of the races they entered .... it's the only car Giovanni and I will have to fight overwhen we win the lottery :p

The 312P is my favourite Ferrari sports racer - I prefer one over the P4 for looks. So gorgeous!

A shot taken at BOAC 1000 Brands Hatch 1971. Ickx Driving - he co-drove with Reggazoni. They came 2nd behind an Alfa.
I was there and as a result, a lifetime love of Ferrari was initiated.
It is interesting how the car evolved over the next couple of years

So what did the other 312P get converted to? Some type of Spyder or open car I presume. Maybe that's why I thought they were turned into 312PBs? Anyway I saw the 312P and it was gorgeous and tiny, especially the height.

That's right Moretti - if only Ickx was 3 secs a lap faster - he might've won a few GP and Le Mans races. :p

    He was hopeless :p

    I liked Redman better

There was a great article about Redman in the Targa Florio where his works car broke down so they sent a 246 out to pick him up and he drove it back .... he 'reckoned' he hit the redline in 5th gear and he wasn't prone to embellishment so maybe ....

You may prefer Redman - and he was a great driver - but better than Ickx? Shakes head

Next thing I'll know, you be telling me Brabham was a better driver than Rindt or Stewart!!!;)

    Luckily I like you Moretti.:p

Agree Redman was a very good driver , brave is a word I would use .A star in American F5000 later in his career .
Never got the chance in F1 to race in a quality team , but a top line late 60s to 70s sports car driver , not an Ickx, whos long awaited book is about to go to print.

Brabham was a star of F1, IMO lucky also as he was with Cooper when the rear engine thingy took off and in 1966 many of the cars that year were 2.0 litre in the 1st year of the 3 litre WC period .Repco due to various people had a light .reliable motor ready with good hp.
IMO not on the same level as Rindt or Stewart both dominated certain years of the Cosworth decades .

    Ian your thoughts?

The early 312P was conceived as a spider. Putting a roof on for Le Mans was the conversion, unless I'm mistaken the roof is removable so the car can run in either configuration.
312PB was a totally different concept, zero connection to 312P

Only 2 of the 312P's survive, the one most frequently seen is #0872 which was resurrected from parts by a decades long painstaking restoration done by Edi Wyss in Switzerland. A true labour of love, aren't we lucky to see and hear it once again!
The other has been in the Bardinon family collection since the 1970's.

Another person who loved his Ferraris was Jack Setton with many F1 cars he put on steel grids in the roof of beautiful stone buildings
