sorry for the newbie question but any tips and tricks to washing this car? I have owned Porsche for many years. Never had a car with a engine under glass. Was wondering what happens when soap and water gets into the engine bay and any tricks over all. I do use a foam gun and have de ionized water, air blaster for drying, etc so am good on the tools and techniques. Just wondering if there are any specific tips you guys can share?

Soapy water in the engine bay is no problem; it's inevitable when washing a 458 or 488. I use an air blaster for drying it out.

TWO BUCKET theory known by you ? (or one more for used cloths) :)

Never sponges etc … look for info somewhere at the Meguiars site ... please DO !

If you start now creating swirls … it will cost you a lot of money to correct them later …

Ask other members / fellows …

And do buy plenty of extra microfiber drying towels, one for each panel ...

Thank you. Good news is that most of it is wrapped. Just the top and tops of doors are not so will be extra careful there. God to know that water into the engine bay is no big deal. Was wondering how those vents drain down.

I use Vulcanet (I have no interest in this firm ;) ) - it's some work but provides good results.

Can you please elaborate? Safe on PPF and nano ceramic coatings? Any downside to using Vulcanet wipes?

If you start will full wrap and then ceramic life will be easier.

    Hose down whole car

Karcher with soap bottle. Shampoo the whole car.

Hose down car again and blow dry.

No no no Angelo ….. a carlover should do the 2 bucket system (or 3) alway imo :)

The two bucket method is where you have a bucket filled with just water and another bucket filled with soapy water.
You first dip your wash mitt in the water and ring it out. Then you put it into the soapy water and go over a section of the car.
The you put the wash mitt in the water, and ring it out. Next you put it in the soapy water. Repeat until the car is washed.

You can find all about it on Meguiars Forum ...

Ive done what you have said all my life but for the Ferrari its going to be touchless. Filtered Demineralised water and karcher soap foam application followed by rinse and then a blow dry.

I will be driving my car ALOT , just wont be out on rainy days

Angelo is correct... I've used this system for a long time. I had a black motor home and it always water spotted and had to wipe the coach down each time. Purchased this unit and and it allowed the coach to air dry without water spots.
Use a pressure washer with it for best results...
