Well today was very interesting. As planned for a week or so, my Family headed up to Seattle to check out a 308. My dad has wanted one for 25 years and it seems it is about to happen. Today we went up and checked it out. We spent over an hour and a half driving it and doing our own PPI. Basically all the info we have learned here, we incorporated into our own physical inspection. It was very fun and each of us got to ride in it. I also found out that even though i am 6' 5" i may still be able to drive it somewhat comfortably!:) I am really looking forward to having a Ferrari in our family, but it will still be a little while, as we need to finish closing on our house first. It was a great first experience to be able to touch, feel, and play as much as we wanted. Below are some pictures...cant wait!

Are the guys at Speedware selling it? I've seen a few that they had for sale and their asking prices seemed high. I hope you get a good one, I love the yellow, looks great.

This is in fact the one at Speedware. Asking price is $29,900. But many things are wrong with it Right headlight doesn work, blinkers dont work, speedo sticks, numerous rust spots, as well as it needs the clutch replaced. I really cant wait!

29.9K seems like a lot of money for this car, and that is if it were perfect. Might want to check a bit further with some of the 308 owners on this web site. You might want to give Carlo a call at Alfa of Tacoma for a streight answer on what to look for.

Michael is right, that seems awful high for a car that needs that much. Some of the items are easy (the headlight could be as easy as a relay or diode, the blinkers are probably a real easy fix...) the rest though could get into a lot of money to fix.

If it were me I would look for one that's "less needy". I am by the way speaking from real experience. I bought a needy 308 and didn't have any idea how much work it would be or how expensive it would get fixing it. Some parts you can't find at all and the ones you can find are often very expensive.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to discourage your family at all, I'm just saying try to find the best car you can afford up front, it will save you more money in the long run. Either that or use the problems to get a bunch of money off the price.

Taking it to Carlo would be a great idea too. He could work out an estimate for what it would cost to fix everything.

Good luck with the search and come out and show off whatever you buy!

    Edit: it's not Dana's car, his is a '78

thanks for the info...we dont plan on paying 29k for the car...Plus my dad is kinda looking for something that may need a little work. Right now that is all that seems to be in his price range. he has been searching for some time, but never sees anything he would want and could afford. And if he does find something it is usually gone by the time he can make a move. Ill keep ya guys posted.

Yeah, way too much for that car. With all those problems, how about 20k? Maybe even less? I'd stay away from any car with serious rust issues.
