Oh they are! Despite her major, unspeakable fault, she's still my woman of choice.

Every year for Superbowl my wife likes to make something kinda over the top. We usually have some friends over and the kids are busy playing so she can spend the day cooking, which she loves.

This year she made braised shortribs with a cabernet reduction sauce over black truffle mashed potatoes. I don't know 100% of the particulars, but I know she seared the shortribs in the Le Creuset to give them a nice crust, deglazes the pan with the red wine, adds more wine, chicken stock and spices, and shoves the whole thing in the over for several hours. When they came out of the oven, the meat literally fell off the bone.

To serve, you put down a bed of the homemade mashed potatoes, add some black truffle salt and mix, put a few of the (now de-boned) ribs on top, and pour some sauce over the top. Holy crap that's good! And don't forget the BAS (big a$$ salad) to go with it.

Not a great pic, but you get the idea.

Next she is going to make the shortrib ravioli like the one at Botero in Vegas. It is amazing.

Well, Mr. Daddy, that sounds like quite a night!! Thank you for sharing!

no joke, short ribs rule :)
PM me more pics pls ;)

Tonight I had a comparitively quite evening in Indianapolis (I know I know, a day or three late to the party...).
While strolling the streets of downtown the Weber Grill Restaurant first struck me as touristy and overpriced from the curb, but holy cow I'm glad we went inside!!!! Turns out they only have 4 locations in the US; 1 in Indy, 3 near Chicago, and yes they know what they're doing.

I started with their little salad with house-smoked corn vinagarette (YUM!), then a smoked, lightly grilled pork chop while my boss had a very well grilled, MR 14oz NY Strip.
After dinner spent a few minutes chatting and bonding with their grill guy; they use only Kingsford charcoal, which keeps the grilling area at approx 120F all night :O

I'm a big fan of the Weber Grill; I've been to the one on Michigan Ave a couple of times and it was always good. I too went in expecting much less and was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was going to be more like a Chili's or something.

I'm sorry - that's the only pic I got before everyone devoured their entire plate!

The Weber place looks interesting. Must be a lot of work to keep the grills going all day and night.
