    Nowhere ;)

The outlet of the hose is positioned to blow some cool air onto the differential/CV boot area. There should be a ~1/2" wide metal loop tack welded to the chassis frame to hold the end of the hose, but not uncommon for it to get broken off.

Hmm. Any idea the specs or parts diagram for a replacement hose?

It's in the US '78-'79 308B/S SPC 161/78 on Tav 102 -- but, IIRC, VW air-cooled engines use the same aluminized/corrugated cardboard 50mm? diameter hose for their heater air ducting.

Heat riser hose from any parts house will work fine. Measure the old tube diameter. I have used it before (just don't remember the size). And looks the same.

Cool air duct to right side CV joint, FPN 60439700:

Porsche PN 901-211-195-00, ~$10. Color and finish may be different than original, but size is exact.

Mine is gone and the metal loop was dangling by a thread so I pulled it off. Does anyone have a pic of an installed version?

As usual, Steve's got you covered...

And, the VW hose is also right on the money.

I found a Mercedes tube that fit over the remaining part of the original tube.

Because this is on 78 on I believe it was to cool down the catalytic converter area.

No, the air passing thru the oil cooler, and that side being more open, is enough.

It was to cool the CV on the right side because it was so shrouded by the exhaust manifold.

There is ducting underneath and in the rear wheel wells directing air to the cat area.
